I decided not to go further into that, but of course blind people are not lepers. What I meant was that blind people need more adaptions to continue their normal life and will more easily become socially excluded than deaf people.
Sorry if I'm taking this a little more seriously than you, but I can chuck a stone and hit a school for the deaf. There is a HUGE deaf community here, and I bet about half would either be offended or mock you for the relative ease you ascribe to it.
And I mean no offense, it's just...I'm looking at this from a slightly less specious point of view.

I wouldn't be able to read anymore (even IF I would learn Braille, still I would only be able to read books that were translated into Braille) And what about this forum or Internet itself! Deaf, I rely on my sense of sight more than my sense of hearing, plus this way I'd still be able to see my fiancee at our wedding and enjoy more of the forms of entertainment that I take for granted than I would if I were blind.

Deaf. There's just too much in my life that depends on my sight. I'd miss listening to my favorite bands and all, but then, I'd also get to stop hearing people talk. I think that's a fair trade-off.

Never actually thought about this, it's freaking hard. Deaf I would lose music, and I really don't wanna lose music be it the one I make myself or the one I listen to. But blind I would also be a 10 on the suckiness scale. I have several spots where I can just go and sit and look, because the scenery is so beautiful (no it's not a strip joint). I really don't want to lose that either.

Deaf, sure I will miss the sound of music and voices but sight is far more important to me.
Look at it this way, I already watch subtitle anime so if I'm deaf I will only miss the sound of the character voices but I still get to see it. if I'm blind, it would be impossible to listen to anime (sure I could somehow take lesson to speak and understand Japanese but there is no audio descriptive animes).

Deaf. It's not really much of a contest and not much of a thinky-thought. Humans are sight-oriented and more or less -dependent creatures. Any normal bloke can go through their life just fine without hearing (I'm in no way making a slight of deafness, I'm simply stating that being deaf hinders one's basic functions immeasurably less than being blind), but you life will become incredibly difficult and vulnerable if you're blind.
Being deaf fucking sucks, but being blind will make you more or less incapable of normal life without many compromises. I think that's all that needs to be said about that.
And, just to repeat, I'm in no way saying that deaf people have an easy life or won't be tremendously affected by their disability. It's just that a blind person will lose the very sight our entire society and species is built on. We're visual creatures first and foremost, after all.

blind. i love hearing. sounds reach out to me more so than sight. while i love reading and certain tasks that may require my eyes, i love music too much more to be able to lose that. besides, if i'm blind i can be like Dare Devil! or Cortez from the leet world. Cortez is a lot more badass anyway.
I can still do my job deaf. I can still watch movies deaf. I can watch porn deaf. I can see naked women deaf. So deaf. A millions times deaf.
Deaf, hands down. I still feel vibrations, and my eyes are much to precious to me. I love video games, without my eyes... I don't want to know what I would do.

EDIT: As for me, I would rather be deaf than blind. I couldn't live with the curiosity of what everything around me looks like. I would have an easier time moving around than blind people, and of course daily activities as well.
Damn I can't make a valid decision on either one of the two (and I'm not just saying that because I don't want to be either of the two). Being blind would probably be the greater evil, especially since if I were to lose my sight, I could not longer enjoy many things, like video games, movies, books, writing, etc. I feel like I can continue living if I were merely deaf, but then again, the phrase "No music, no life" comes to mind. I truly love music, especially since I enjoy all forms of it. Some of my greatest memories in my life included a few of my favorite songs being played in the background and I don't know how memorable they would have been if they were not present.
So yeah, I can't decide for the life of me, so if I go blind, at least I can enjoy all my favorite tracks of all time, and if I go deaf, I least I have video games and the likes to keep me entertained.
