In All the text books i have read about Science they all say, that this Science is the base science. What is your opinion

What he said. Nothing else to say really...Tharwen said:You know what? I think it's time to pull out the XKCD links again.

Physics is the only science that explores the fundamental parts of our universe, hence it's the 'purest' one.
Maths says it should exsists, but doesnt prove it does. Calculas is based on an assumption, if we ever find a better assumption to create a new form of mathematics it could change everyhting, in this at least, maths and physics are no better than each other.Jedamethis said:What he said. Life is based on assumptions. We assume that gravity will be there tomorrow because it always has been, but we don't really understand how or why it works, so we could be wrong. We live based on the assumption that we won't get hit by lightning, or a car, or the plague/swine flu/whatever every time we go outside. Yeah, calc and physics are based on assumptions but the fact that these assumptions have stayed static for so long is a pretty good clue that they are at least close.Talshere said:Maths says it should exsists, but doesnt prove it does. Holy phenanthroline, another chemist?! I thought I was the only one!deathninja said:As a chemist I have to be horribly, scandalously biased :3
Seriously though, I don't know about the 'base' science, but Chem is definitely the 'central' science. It's a good middle ground that bridges physics' theory and biology's practice.
Toúche. However wouldnt it be awesome if someone discovered tomorrow something new which proves all our current technology only works by happen stance rather than because we got it rightspartan231490 said:Life is based on assumptions.
