Poll: The COD 5 Zombies

As you will Probably know by now, completing the COD 5 single player campaign unlocks the 'Nacht der Untoten', known to all as NAZI ZOMBIE mode. It can be played co-op splitscreen, online, single player (not reccomended, because you'll get mercilessly killed in about half a minute) and so on. Anyway, this post is just about asking: Was this a good idea?

Consider the points for and against.
FOR 1, this mode is pure fun, good for fans of Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead, especially fun when playing with friends. 2, It makes sure that the multiplayer junkies will play the single player, to unlock it.
AGAINST 1, Considering the fact that the game is designed to highlight the cost of WWII, particularly the brutality of the Reich and the Soviet response, and enforce the notion that War Is Bad, it's perhaps a bit tasteless to put in a mode where you gun down the shambling corpses of Hitler's Reich. 2, It's got a difficulty cliff, as opposed to a curve, and it's boring being stuck in the same room facing the same enemies with the same guns because wherever you go you'll just find more zombies and more expensive weapons.

I liked the mode, it's fun to play if you've got a couple of friends with you. But being a very big zombie movie fan, I don't think anything could've made me not like this mode.

It's probably the most fun part of the game. That said, it is very tasteless.

Well, the word combination 'nazi zombies' made me chuckle because it's so silly, but I agree that it's in stark contrast with the serious tone of the campaign mode. As for the gameplay, I really like the thrill of being stuck in a house with three other survivors being assaulted by the undead (I don't have Left 4 Dead so for me it's a new experience), but it does get old after a while. Same house, same zombies, same weapons. And no way to win. I'm really hoping maybe there'll be DLC which extends NZ some time in the future!

I've gotten the raygun a good amount of times but favorite is the FG42.

I think it's fun.

However they've just combined the two entities that you can kill over and over again in film and games and nobody complains. (Zombies and Nazi's)

But if it's black zombies, like in Resident Evil 5, suddenly it's racist, it's a funny old world.

It's a good idea and survival games usually stay alive longer so it was a great addition to the game. When most people are over basic multiplayer modes they will still be going at nazi zombies. Though I do agree it is a bit tasteless/dumb.

It's ridiculous, haven't played it but it the idea is just so over the top, as if zombies were not evil enough, no they had to be friggin undead!. How did the line of thoughts go I wonder...

- Damn it, Nazis are not evil enough, we need something new, like Nazis in space
- Yeah, Nazis was a good excuse to shoot people once upon a time, but now it's been milked to death
- Milked to.. death... You're a genius! We're gonna have Nazi Zombies!

The only way they can top it is by giving them long white hair and unreasonably large swords.

It takes too much ammo to body shot a zombie, and thats all you can do some times which makes it bloody annoying. Apart from that its entertaining but can get old quick.

It's strange that I would see a thread about Nazi Zombies in CoD, the very next day after being linked by a friend to a trailer for Dead Snow, a film about Nazi Zombies. Is this the latest fad and I hadn't picked up on it? :O
