What console war? What, you mean between the fans? Pffft. That's like religious people killing in the name of god when god said "Thou Shall Not Kill". The consoles themselves aren't at war. It's business.

Though, a funny little question comes to mind, about people who BS about consoles and PCs. It JUST came to me and it's tickling my brain like cocaine. Why is it that Microsoft built itself a console system if PCs are suppose to be 'the shit' in gaming and not 'just shit'? Well, the answer there is, once again, probably business. But it's still funny that people fight over THAT as well, and here Microsoft's playing both sides.

Same here, if i like my system, well then i like it.
If other people don't like the system i like then im gonna respect that and not make a fuss over it.
Its not worth it.

I think really the only thing that I do in a console war, is to defend my system of choice from lies spread about it.

Matters of opinion aside, the following things are NOT true about the 360:

1. That they have failure rates of 54% (damn you GameInformer survey).
2. That they can only go up to 720p.

That is all. You wanna offer an opinion on a console, go right ahead, but when you just flat out lie about one to make yours look better... that's just wrong and deserves to be punished .

I'm actually one of the few I suppose that always owns all consoles.. so now I got a Wii, PS3 and an Xbox360 hooked up.. I prefer my Xbox, I'll defend it but the PS3 has merrits aswell as the Wii.

I work at a electronics retailer that sells all three systems and I get asked probably at least once a day which one is better, my response hasn't changed.

If your a hardcore gamer, you want to shoot things and earn trophies you go for the Xbox and you'll have a blast competing with achievements and leaderboards.

Your 'sensible' and want to have a multifunction device with the focus on solid games, go for the PS3, with it's snazzy internet browser and full HD bluray player.

You got kids/nephews that come over/a fat wife/a television that requires you to feed a hamster/Attention deficit disorder? Take the Wii.

At this point it is.
To tell you the truth, I'm not a fan of Sony or MS. I would've liked to have bought a 360 but I got a ps3 because at the time half the 360s were turning to bricks. Now that they fixed the rrod and sony is toying with a subscription for on-line, they're both the same. They all end up copying each other so in another year or two they're all be completely identical anyway.

Wait, what? Sony might start charging for online? Where did you learn of this?

I know: the pricks are treating us like junkies but what else is new.
Presumably, we should be getting all the functions we get now for free but they say they're going to add a premium subscription model. Hopefully it's just for that rental service they were talking about and things like special deals on dlc and crap I'm not going to buy anyway. If they start charging for demos, home, or anything else we get for free, I'm going to be very disappointed. And as much fun as demos and those other things are, I'm not paying extra for them. I already pay for a rental service.

Yes I am done with them as well, because anyone who still says that their favorite console is better than another without question is an idiot who can't mature. I prefer the 360 and I will always play games on that but even I accept that the other platforms as just as good (except the Wii, but it still appeases to some gamers).

Except that video games systems have far more ups and downs than soda. Taste is all there really is to soda, leaving it completely up to a simple matter of opinion, but for consoles there are far more things to consider. Exclusive games, power, online networks, other abilities...

The fact is, the console wars are required for success in the gaming industry. Competition is a vital part of any industry: without it there is little stimulation of growth.

Am I tired of fanboys constantly shipping their favorite consoles with little or no actual reason? Of course: that's just annoying. But the console wars themselves are an incredibly important part of the gaming industry.

Yeah I'm fed up with it, it isn't as much fun as the snes/genesis one. Of course, I'm older now so that has a lot to do with it, but also the internet kinda ruined the innocent fun about it. Two kids arguing about why Mario is better than Sonic or the 'bit' count face to face just has more appeal than two teenagers arguing anonymously across the internet.
