I'm cool with Free to play and buy to play.

If it's subscription, then you can forget it. That model just never appealed to me.
However I'm only fine with Free to play as long as they balance it like TF2 where you don't have to "pay to win"

while I don't plan on playing it because I don't play MMOs, pay to play makes the most sense if they want to keep servers running and develop updates.

Buy-to-play would be my preference but I'm probably okay with subscription if it means further content down the line. I'm not really a fan of free-to-play, for a variety of reasons already well expressed by others further up the thread.

Pretty sure I remember someone on the ES forums mentioning it would be subscription, which I don;t have a problem with really.
I'd rather pay monthly and not feel like anythings being held back from me.

A buy once type deal would be okay, though they're would still undoubtedly be a cash shop. At the least hopefully it will be similar to Neverwinter or Champions Online and not be necessary to advance.

I'm pretty sure it's already been said (at least for PC) that its Buy to play, its going to be released in stores etc. and once bought, the game is free for the buyer indefinitely, like the way Guild Wars works
As far as I know nothing regarding the payment model has been confirmed yet, if its a subscription based, I'm out (as previously stated)

In regards to Buy to Play or Free to Play,

Buy to play would be awesome sort of like guild wars 2,

free to play I guess would be alright assuming that they handled it correctly, a very difficult feat

I don't see Bethesda going FTP
It's kinda hard to see a company that has nothing to do with the project deciding on the monetization system in general.

Sadly it only makes sense at a superficial level, in reality most subscription games ditch the model because it puts them in direct competition with WoW. Most players won't pay for multiple subscriptions, so they end up ditching the model for F2P which allows players to migrate between games depending on what they feel like at the time.

No sub models are good because players don't feel locked down to their account, they don't have the implied obligation to play constantly to get their moneys worth so they can just enjoy it when they like. It's what's caused a lot of confusion in F2P and B2P sales figures, each one has forums filled with "is Game X dying???" threads because people keep perceiving these games as competitors to WoW, when really they're not and most of them are perfectly sustainable with lower populations and a stream of money from their cash shops.

Buy to play.
Then micro-transaction store with speed levellers and cosmetic items only.

That the best model right now for a large budget MMO. And what I would hope they have sense to do.

Pay to Play works if you can get a solid cult following (EVE) which Elder Scrolls could potently have, but the game needs to be made to budget ofr it to work.

Trying to make a big-budget MMO Pay to Play will not work any more (SWTOR good example) because people do not stick to single MMO's, they tend to play multiple Free to Plays. And having a Pay to Play makes it too expensive to spend more on there other MMO's. Hell even WoW is dying it's very slow death (though because it did so well it will take years yet, maybe even a decade).

Free to Play play can be great or it can be horrible. Bug it sucks for large budget MMO's because they can't ever guarantee they will get their money back, which makes publishers nervous to say the least.

If they limit micro-transaction's to speed levellers, faster unlocks and cosmetic items only. Then it tends to be OK the majority of the time, not always though, depends on pricing and these games tend to be cheap.

However when they lock content behind micro-transaction's (even though it's normally non-essential content or extra balanced items) this is when it starts to get horrible especially when they don't know how to price. (APB Reloaded for example its around £20 per gun to unlock each one account wide).

Of course some Free to Play MMO's lock content behind micro-transaction's and then give you an extremely slow way of gaining access to it, which works for a little while until you get sick of it (Star Trek Online for example has 75%+ of its ships locked content behind micro-transaction's but lets you buy store currency with in-game currency, but there are limits on how much in-game currency you can acquire each day).

I wouldn't mind if it was anything but subscription based, because then I'd never be able to justify paying instalments to play it. It's the same reason I'm staying away from the PS4 requiring PS+.

Buy it or free to play is perfectly fine to me, but I won't get it at all if its monthly payments. Which is horrible, because I desperately want to play TESO. I'm already thinking up names for my character!

What's the difference between buy to play and free to pay? Does buy to play have no microtrasnsactions?

I guess I should clarify Buy to Play is buy the game once for 60$ and then their are optional microtransactions,
pay to play is a subscription fee

EDIT: Added A quick clarification on my original post ;)

If they go with a subscription based model that effectively means they're taking on Blizzard and I doubt the game is strong enough to do that. Remember The Old Republic? On the other hand, unlike World Of Warcraft, TES: Online is also being released for the consoles. Potentially, that gives them an edge over Blizzard (if they go with Subscription) or at least ensure that they gather enough players to compete - which would be interesting to see.

If they go with the simple buy to play it might be harder for the developers to support the game in the long term. So if that happens we should anticipate that they're relying on a lot of people to buy the game as soon as it releases. After the cash grab expect the game to be abandoned or at least neglected.

Free to play is arguably the "safest" model however from the look of it the devs and the publishers are ambitious about TES: Online (just look at the first person mode they've put into it) so I doubt they'll do that. I bet they're feeling confident enough to challenge Blizzard.

Buy 2 Play like Guild Wars does. Subscriptions are dying out sans Blizzard's mammoth and EVE's insanely dedicated fanbase. Free 2 Play quickly devolves into "buy or you progress so slowly it's practically useless" like TOR does AFAIK. Plus one-time payment is simple and nice without having to worry about monthly payments.

I prefer F2P because I don't think a multiplayer-only game is worth an investment of over $5. B2P for $5 is also acceptable, but that probably won't be the case.
Then again, I'm not really the MMO-type anyway, and there's a very small chance that I'll even check it out even for free.

Hoping for Buy To Play. I do GW2 and probably the biggest reason I chose it is that it's simultaneously free of monthly fees AND free of the pay-to-win pressure you get with F2P.

If ESO is subscription-based, I won't be getting it. Not even a question.

I hope Buy to Play but I am almost expecting Pay to Play (Honestly, prior to the announcement of it being on the new consoles I thought they already said it was pay to play but I may have just been assuming, I honestly don't remember). I will say I will definitely get it if it is Buy to Play and will consider it if it is pay to play.
I really doubt it will be free to play, but if it does it should go without saying I would try it.
