Isn't it obvious? Magic, of course!

They have magic. They just have to use some magic on the magic and magically make nukes. Dude it's all logic.
*Facepalms*

Of COURSE! Damned Mages Guild.... They'll be the death of us....
Their new Arch-Mage is FAR too reckless.

It should be like about 100 years after Oblivion.
Why? Immediately after Oblivion would make much more sense. With Martin dead and no apparent heir to the throne, there's going to be a massive power vacuum. I don't think people will be happy for too long with the Elder Council in charge.

I've said this before, but what I'd like to see in TESV is a situation where Tamriel has basically collapsed. Several different factions have arisen to try and claim control over the continent, and there is currently a stalemate going on. It is then up to the player to join whichever faction he chooses and help lead them to victory. The end of the game would be the protagonist being crowned the new Emperor.

I really doubt that it will be anything like this, but a man can dream.
I am just thinking like a time after when your protagonist would die and if you were guild leader of most of the guilds, there would be a type of corruption, and that character kept peace but then he dies so a whole new problem arises and it takes a new hero to fix it all or something like that. It sounds good in my head ok!!! XD

How come that in every game that has magic is set in middle age styled age ? Horses, kings and castles. Why not magic transport and more magic stuff made out of magic ?

Actually, now that you mention it, that sounds like a really good idea. The problem is that, what if your character wasn't the leader of all the guilds? In my case, I had different characters for each guild quest, because it didn't make much sense, in my opinion, to have my warrior character who knew exactly 4 spells to become Arch-Mage.

Although, at the end of Oblivion the protagonist was named Champion of Cyrodiil, wasn't he? So the plot could be that the Champion had effectively taken control after Martin had died and helped keep Tamriel from falling apart, but he died shortly before the opening of the new game. Then, like you said, the new character has to stop the aforementioned collapse of Tamriel.

I'm liking this idea.

Same universe. Maybe a couple of years after Oblivion. Maybe an all-out war between the races or something, but preferably set in Skyrim or Elswyr. The game should be full of racial slurs against the other races and stuff.

Same universe for sure since there is about 3 or 4 other lands left to cover in it including the rest of the morrowind area.

Obviously it needs to be in the same place as always. Hopefully now though, with that pesky Empire out of the way, they can make the cultures fully unique again, and have a few wars break out perhaps.

That said though, the game itself needs to be a marked improvement on Oblivion before I start giving a damn about the setting.

But 1 major thing I would like to see in a upcoming Elder Scrolls game is a major change of the impact your development has on the NPC's. In Oblivion, No one really cared if you were the Arc-Mage of the mages guild, besides the members of the faction. I encountered Mages Guild guards that kept saying "ah, you must be the newest addition to the guild" even though I was the Arch Mage :S And it was the same with the Knight's of the Nine, Fighter's Guild ect.

A shame really, because it takes away the motivation of being a member of the factions in the first place, even though the quest lines a quite funny and somewhat different from the stuff you normally do in-game :)

The same world. If they just did Modern under the "Elder Scrolls" name, there would probably be outrage, and it wouldn't make sense. At all.

Same universe with some changes. Personally I'm really hoping for Tamriel to go a separate way (no longer being an empire) but I think it might only be a change in monarchy. It will still be the same universe.

A few decades into the future, and should take place in all of Tamriel... Which would be sweet as hell

How's this? The Oblivion crisis is resolved, the Fourth Era is underway, but the confusion in the Imperial City leads to the outer provinces revolting and the empire Tiber Septim unified in a state of civil war. You, the player, must travel around bonking heads and throwing fireballs at people to bring the Empire back together again. Revisit Morrowind and put Helseth in his proper place, maybe whack Vivec while you're there. Wayrest, Daggerfall, and Hammerfell (aka "brand new locations!" to anyone who thought the series started when Morrowind came out) make an appearance, as you chop up Bretons and stab Redguards and Orcs. Go to Valenwood, but bring your "Detect Life" spells to avoid getting ambushed by the native Bosmer. Break up (or join, because it's a sandbox after all) the Skooma trade in Elsweyr and rule the Khajiit through force or through use of drugs as means of control. Fortify your disease resistance and head into the noxious swamps of Black Marsh. Etc.

Oh, and as a final note: For the love of Akatosh, bring back Morrowind's fixed NPC level system.

One set at the first half of the 20th century would get my juices going. 1910's, 20, or 30's to be precise.... with mutant aliens.

Two things, Lord.

That is the single greatest thing game I've ever read of. Throw in Summerset Isles, and I will shit a brick.

And I see what you did there. Hehe. For the love of Akatosh.
