Well, Lightsiders are cold, unfeeling automatons where as Darksiders embrace life to it's fullest... There really is no competition...

I'd go with Dark side simply because Light side seems to be lawful rather than good. That said I'd stay morally good, I just wouldn't suppress myself as much as the Jedi demand.

I would be closer to the Light Side. As being a generally nice guy but not setting restrictions for emotions and the like.

Can't I choose the pragmatic side of the force? Have emotions and not do the evil shit?
So we'll be Grey Jedis together then? I'm all for that. I'veseen the films and played a few games, like the KOTOR series, and am completely mystified as to why there's never a serious Jolee Bindo option (screw the Sith and Jedi, justbe the best person you can). How can the Force, an all-encompassing energy field, even have a good and bad side? I view it more as the intentions of one wielding it than the Force itself.

Well as I'm middle-class English, I'm pretty much destined to be on the side of the empire.

Dark side, theres mindless violence and sex.

Hopefully not together though :S
..... Prude ;)

OT: Dark side all the way. Power, chicks and force lightning, what is not to love? Also I look good in black....

On a more serious basis, I'm a man who follows his passions, I really don't see the point in repressing them when life is so short. On top of that I have an incredibly addictive personality and I'm rather power hungry. Plus the Jedi seem to be very distinctly lawful on the spectrum with uncertain morality, compared the the Sith chaotic with uncertain morality. I much prefer chaos to law, unless I control the law making me pretty much a full on Sith. So yay for Sith.

Code of the Sith
Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.
Code of the Jedi
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
(There is no chaos, there is harmony.)(*)
There is no death, there is the Force.
As someone who is apathetic to the Star Wars universe, I found these both novel and cool; thanks :)

OT: Given the above, and how I'm a little "Zen", I pick the Jedi. That and the fact that they have Samuel L Jackson.

Emotions are for women (hahaha). I am a rational person who isn't dissuaded by flashy toys. I can go light side, and still be the shit. (Luke ended up shooting lightning and was good, so stop using that as an argument).

I think the problem is that when most people picture the Light Side of the Force, they picture these soulless automaton monks who are forbidden from love, forbidden from attachment, forbidden from fun itself. What they tend to forget is that one of the greatest Jedi Masters to ever live was not any such person.

See, all those boring precepts people generally associate with the Jedi- those represent an old way that no longer exists in Luke's time. Luke is a masterful practitioner of the Light Side of the Force, but because he's also a human being, he feels emotion. He lives, he loves. He even has a child, later in his life. He's not perfect. He's fallible. It doesn't make him any less of a Jedi, and it certainly doesn't make him a practitioner of the Dark Side, despite what the old ways might have you believe.

Ultimately, the choice between the Light Side and the Dark Side isn't about powers- it's about how you choose to employ them. A Jedi can use Force Lightning as easily as a Sith can use the Force to heal himself. At the end of the day, it's all about action, what you do with the power. Given that, it doesn't seem very difficult to make the choice of not being a dick to everyone.
I agree with this wholeheartedly.

I don't believe I've seen any mention of the Gray Jedi. A sect that ignores both sides and focuses on their own problems and judges situations accordingly not just due to blind faith.

Think Jolee Bindo.

The Gray Jedi Code

There is no Dark Side, nor a Light Side
There is Only the Force
I will do what I must to keep the balance
The balance is what keeps me together
There is no good without evil, but evil must not be allowed to flourish
There is passion, Yet peace
Serenity, Yet emotion
Chaos, yet order
I am the wielder of the flame, the protector of balance
I am the holder of the torch, lighting the way
I am the keeper of the flame, soldier of balance
I am a guardian of balance
I am a Gray Jedi

Also not trying to be a party pooper so to answer the question I'd say Dark Side. Because while being orderly is all fine and good I'd rather be able to protect the things close to me even if it means killing a youngling or two instead of leaving them behind.

if you had mastery of the force, would you follow the light side or dark? i have asked dozens of people this and not a single person has opted for the light side, and why would they? they forbid you from learning any cool skills or even doing anything cool with your boring skills! Answer the poll and explain your reasoning

i would totally be on the dark side. fear, anger and passion are what make us human and there's no shame in relying on them for strength, and you wouldn't HAVE to go around killing kids and throttling your girlfriends, also, two words for anyone who thinks light side- LIGHTNING HANDS!
id be exactly like my sith in TOR id walk in the light but you know still sith:)

How about the "grey" side that lets me shoot lightning when I get pissed off (only when I choose to though) but doesn't stop me from gently force-lifting kittens from trees?

Besides, aren't they just two perspectives on the same entity? it is not like their is a clearly defined boundary, not according to expanded universe and most SW RPG games at least :p

The dark side of the force is lacks any kind of structure or support. Sith are expected to kill their masters in order to surpass them. that's shoddy structuring for any religious or warring order, because everyone is always checking over their shoulder, worrying the people they work with will one day lightsaber their ass'es. The Jedi don't have this problem.

Because the Jedi aren't fucking ponses.
