I talked to investors today, in one week I will have a live conference with them.

I am talking about a gaming cafe. Imagine a cyber cafe, only instead of computers its about video games. You would pay a small fee to play online, you can buy games or food as well.

Tell me, what do you think of this idea? I have investors getting ready to pay for the idea, but you guys are a gaming community. Are you guys excited?

Also before you all get excited it's in NJ.

It has always sounded like a good idea but the two that have opened here both went bankrupt within a couple years. You would think it would work though. I wish you luck.

Sounds like a good idea, but this part doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
You do know computers have games on them, right?
I mean instead of using the computers for the internet and not playing games, you would use (for instance) xbox 360s to play games online or by yourself or with friends.

You can purchase up to an hour at a time, or pay for full days.

I think that's a great idea. I'd love it. However you would get the same few people in there for hours, everyday :D But if they're paying who cares? It's a really good idea considering I doubt there's that many game cafes.

DAMN it being in the US. If I lived in NJ I'd be in there a hella lot.

That sounds like a great idea. Hopefully it'll catch on and spread up to Canada with me.

You need to reword that, it doesn't make sense. To answer your question: Yes, I would definitely be interested in something like that.

I have something like that on every other major street in my town, unless you mean consoles, which would be kinda dumb.
well some families can't afford full consoles so instead of like 400 dollars and 50 a month, maybe they pay 10 a day or less to just sit with ALL their friends and play a game in the same room and they can still enjoy themselves.

You do know computers have games on them, right?
But why restrict it to just computer games? Console games could teabag computer games in the face anyday. Death to the PC gamer!

yes?

Please don't turn this into a fanboy flamewar. IMO the cafe would be best if it had PCs and consoles.

You have answered my prayers!=) Assist the poor with a gaming addiction. YIPPEE!!! In other words, go on ahead. 10$ dollars an hour would be managable. I don't play online much, but I will do so more if places like that get around.

So basically... Bring back arcades? I like the sound of it, but I can't imagine how it could make a profit.

we had a cyber cafe that centered around gaming about... 12 years ago..

all the kids used to go there every friday night.. it was a huge social gathering, and it was an opportunity to meet likeminded gamers of different ages who went to different schools, and just have fun.

We went on friday because they had a deal.. normally it was 10 dollars for an hour.. but on fridays, they'd open the doors in the evening, and charge 5 dollars.. you could come in, visit with your friends.. get about an hour and a half on the computers (taking shifts.. we'd play magic the gathering or socialize during our offshifts), and it was great. Best part of my childhood barnone. Kids would buy the place out of snacks and drinks every friday, and we'd all have an amazing time.

Then they stopped doing the deal. 8 months later they were gone. Real shame. Don't know why they stopped the deal - maybe filling all their computers for half the regular price was hurting them financially.. but it was the only thing that they did right. the 25-30 people who showed up every friday were their biggest fans.. they occasionally came in at other times and paid the 10 dollars for their hour, and on those fridays, they must have made hundreds of dollars selling drinks and snacks.

Real shame

Starting Point, I miss you

as for the point of this post... I don't know.. waxing nostalgic with a bit of an anecdote.. ignore it, it's ok :p
