I found the site in 2009, and joined in 2010, so I caught pretty much the tailend of Maxthereaper, Furburt, Hubilub, etc. etc.

Since then, I think Daystar has been the only poster with a "cult" around him, and even that's fading away.
I infiltrated Daystar's cult and destroyed it from the inside. He's easily seduced, it turns out.
So it's gone for good? That means there's surplus worship going around... I call dibs! Dibs and for my guards to get you out of the way so you can't endanger my plans.
Someone fetch the comfy chair!

I don't think he's been banned, still got two blocks left on his health bar. I think he got mentioned because he's undenaibly memorable poster.

I remember Boudica's period blood period. What a fun thread that was. Alongside such other classics as EN's "Sonic vs Transformers" thread with additional inflatable fetish attached.
Oh Lord I'd almost forgotten about both of those incidents. Boudica was bloody fun.

Shoot, I've even seen people talking about DVS_BSTRD or however you spell his crazy name.
I was actually going to give him an honourable mention, for always producing a genuinely funny pun in the first 5 or so posts of every. single. news feed thread. He's been slipping of late, but generally he still delivers the goods.

Apart from that there was the "0.99999... = 1" thread, which got a little out of hand, and after a while Cracked mentioned it in their article and restarted the discussion launching a brand new thread about the subject which got just as heated and crazy.

Mythrandia was some next level crazy. I once copied one of his posts into Word and found that with a little formatting, it was twice as long as any paper I've ever written (it came out at about 20 pages). After I read his first ever post (a massive event about how he "beat" Asheron's Call or something) and everyone was supportive and completely talking around his obvious craziness, I felt like I was in Narnia or something because of how little sense everything was making.

Anyway, for me, Mythrandia will always hold a place next to Boudica's menses paintings and EN's thread about inflating My Little Ponies until they burst. Not a good place, but a place.

Yeah, he was great :D weirdest thing about him was how he joined in 2003, which made him seem really legit. I actually tried digging into his IRL history on the internet and it actually came up with some worrying results...
That sounds pretty interesting, what did you find out?

Can't remember specifics, but it definitely involved both a dodgy mental history and criminal records.

I really think he thought he was a wizard.
I would have to agree with that.

I remember he created a thread in R&P about...something...I honestly can't remember since it was convoluted as hell to read through. Anyways, he made mention of him being a wizard in some mystical land and I think he was trying to talk to everyone about it there...? It was pretty hilarious to see their reaction about it, but I think he's gone where no man has gone before. :/

OT: So yeah, I remember him, and a few other users that have been mentioned that are now banned.

Another one was Swollen Goat. He was pretty awesome to talk to in the few times that we did, but the dude snapped and he's gone now.

Huh. Well I actually checked and tried looking up his profile to confirm it myself but I couldn't even find it so I concluded he must have been removed. I'd have missed his threads dearly.
Let's celebrate with the gif!

See, this is why I don't like that rule. Sometimes people get a reputation, be it as a troll, a crazy person, a single issue wonk, you name it, and it's well enough deserved that posting a picture like that or calling them a troll really is justified. For trolls in particular I'd rather just let them build up a reputation so that people know not to reply to them. I mean, I could name names and immediately identify new alts for frequent trolls on a few of the Gamefaqs boards I frequent. The only reason those posters are still around is Gamefaqs doesn't have a rule against ban jumping, or at least doesn't try to enforce it. You allow for that kind of reputation building in addition to perma-bans actually being permanent, you get a highly effective system.

Also, I recognize most of the names mentioned here, but Mythrandia only rings the vaguest of bells, and it's for the name, not his posts. Which is weird because he was apparently still around for about two years after I joined, so if he was prolific at all I probably saw tons of posts from him. Although I do vaguely remember a thread about people selling magic potions on the internet. He probably either started that one or got involved in it.

Edit: Also, I have to second being sad to see J-E-F-F-E-R-S go. He was nuts, but he (along with the similarly nuts, but about Tohou Lilithslave) did provide a different perspective in that they both still care more about Japanese games than Western ones. They would have been at home on Gamefaqs 10 years ago, not so much on a site like this one in this day and age.

Edit Edit: Note that I don't think Eternal Nothingness is a troll. I /do/ however, think that that gif perfectly sums up the way most of his threads play out, him going on about something like Pinkie Pie there and the rest of the posters getting steadily more annoyed like Apple Jack. He's not a troll, though, because a troll would be doing it to get a rise out of people. He does it because for whatever reason he overthinks things and worries near to the point of panic about stuff that most people don't ever give a second thought to. Plus, you know, he posted safe for work (but only because it's for Sonic the Hedgehog characters inflating like a balloon, nudity totally optional) fetish porn in a thread.

I'm sorry, but as the most notable 'Pist ever, I must say: Who?
Some guy who made a few uninteresting posts is not worth the effort to remember.
If you were talking about IdealistCommi or WanderFreak, I might have understood.

Honestly surprised Jeffers got banned. All he did was tell someone who dismissed his argument (it was as usual a good argument) by calling him a "fanboy" to "Fuck off". Is that seriously a bannable offence? What a fucking joke.

An overly aggressive poster who I actually agreed with, most of the time, but who couldn't stop insulting people long enough to bring anyone who wasn't already on it over to his side. He was in favor of consumer rights and against what EA pulled with Mass Effect 3, rabidly so. Sad thing is the post he got banned for was a post on another forum, and he was blatantly framed by one of his many detractors[footnote]Basically someone claiming to be him made an account on Giantbomb, of all places, and made what 4chan would call a personal army request, for a raid on this site. Then they or someone else let the mods know about it, and he got banned.[/footnote]... when he would have been gone inside of a week, anyway. He was just that terrible at being civil in an argument.

You're forgetting the fact that he came back from that ban.

Check out his post history...
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/posts/Zeel

He was posting earlier this year, pretty much a full year after he got banned the first time. (His post history jumps from March 2012, to March 2013)
Then he got banned again.

EDIT: And his very last post is absolutely hilarious...

Seriously? I had no idea that happened. It makes the framing that much sadder, he just couldn't hold his tongue, and really would have been gone on his own merits (or rather, lack thereof) in short order.
Edit: IRT your edit: As perfect as that is, it may not be his last post -- the post he was banned in was in a thread that apparently got far enough outside the rules to get banned and/or sent to whatever purgatory the mods keep the threads that normal users can't see (rumor is it's the basement we're all warned to stay out of shortly after joining), because it gives me a 403 error when I click on the link. The title is the tantalizing "Is my stance offensive at all? (Gay Rights Topic)."

Two banned posters are drowning and you can only save one of them...
Two whirlpools are drowning in humans but which do you save?

OT: I do remember the guy the OP mentioned, albeit very vaguely. I just knew he was getting attention before he got banned.

As for memorable things that happened, the Publishers Club introduction was a fuuuuuun evening in the user groups. There's been a few more but I can't be arsed to recall them right now. :p

Ha, I remember those. That was a funny period of time. I had no idea how it got so popular though...

OT: I really don't remember too many posters, but I'm saddened that Jeffers is gone. So I'll pick him as the forumer I miss the most.

Ah, you're right. I hadn't considered that.
Be interesting to know what exactly he said that caused him to get banned for a second time.

As an aside, I don't like the way the site doesn't allow us to see the posts some users were banned for.
You click the banned link, and all you get is a 403 or 404 error.
