Two posts are hereby QFT-ed.

Problem is, when you're arguing with idiots, it's usually a case of who shouts loudest and has the most people on their side that wins the argument, rather than the one who is 'right'. So I have joined in to try and balance things out if they should have had it under control, but were too sensible to get drawn into a game of intimidation.

I've found that regardless of who is obviously "winning" - that is, hasn't yet resorted to argumentum ad hominem - an Internet discussion/debate will often go around in circles as one active proponent of a position leaves and is replaced by another, who will begin to spout the same arguments.

In many discussions the same situation occurs among the same people; as lesser-minded individuals will repeat their original premise over and over again without adding anything.

The Logician's Law of Idiots]Idiots will always seem to outnumber intelligent people. This is because one or two intelligent people can outwit several people with their heads shoved up their ass.

Now this is logical because poorness correlates with lack of education and the poorer you are the more kids youre going to have (8 kids instead of 2 kids + poor being a majority).

I usually like to chip my two cents worth in, but if it's an argument already raging between two people and I agree with one of them I prefer not to butt in and to just let them go.

I voted yes because if the intelligent person seems to be winning the argument using sound logic (Which is actually unlikely because logic is something that idiots tend to be impervious to.) I will simply sit back and watch as it unfolds.

If the less intelligent participant(s) are overpowering their opponent using the typical tactics of making up statistics on the spot, using 2,000 year old religious texts as sources (Only applicable in certain cases obviously) or the most common one of just speaking very, very loudly and interrupting every time the intelligent one tries to make a point, I also try to stay out of it. That shit is just annoying.

However, if both sides seem to at least be attempting to use logic, even if one side is clearly less intelligent or informed, I will jump in for whichever side I support in the argument. Which, coincidentally, seems to always be the more intelligent side.
