personally, i'm voting for Neill Blomkamp. If he can make district 9, i'm confident he can do a mass effect movie.

I honestly have little to any idea who these people are. I hear their names quite a bit and I know what movies their associated to now but they never really pop up on my radar anytime except recently. I guess I just miss the old days.

Voted for J.J. Abrams because I like tanks.

If it was Neil Blomkamp that did District 9 (my pick for best film of '09) I would love to see him do Mass Effect.

You thought district 9 was good? wow...

I picked other, but the poll seems to be nerfed.

I did, the story was enticing, I sided with the aliens naturally (unlike Avatar which felt very forced, but that could be just me or reading about it and having preconceptions from "dances with Smurfs and other things), the CG was perfect little enough not to be totally obvious, the characters we well rounded.

It's was the only film in years I watched start to finish without browsing the internet with it in the background, I'm gutted I missed it in the cinema.

Yes he did, as did I, as did a shit load of people.

OT: Neill Blomkamp for me. I think out of those mentioned he seems to have what it takes to represent the Mass Effect universe adequately. Preferably I wouldn't really like a ME movie, because these things are almost always bad, but I think he's pretty capable.

I vote for Joss Whedon to make it!

I also vote that he casts Nathan Fillion as Sheppard.

Then renames the whole thing "Firefly"

Made that in the past (16-17 years ago now) what will he he make today? I'd say it would be as bad an idea as giving Tim Burton a cheque and telling him to do what he wants.

Yea, maybe you're right, kind of like the last (different directors now) Indiana Jones or the Star Wars movies. Maybe some fresh blood would be good.

James Cameron would make it seem cheap and cliche, and probably focus on a love story between Shep & Ashley (missing the point of the whole possible multiple genocide, 'end of life as we know it' scenario)

Neill Blomkamp is too inexperienced, D9 could have been a fluke, if you even consider it good (which I did). Besides, he hasn't really done anything with a large budget to my knowledge, who knows how he'd perform with one...

JJ Abrams is more of a producer than director, and spends much more time on TV projects.

Ridley Scott made what remains my all-time favorite movie (Blade Runner, the final final cut - international platinum uncut Director's edition redux), as well as a lot of other movies I find to be completely kick-ass. (Haven't seen Robin Hood yet, heard it was bad, but he's still at least 8:1 good:bad movies in my book) I vote Ridley Scott.

Neil Blomkamp, he did do District 9. He was going to do Halo, which is pretty similar to Mass Effect, so I think he would be fine with it.

J.J Abrams is good too, I don't know, I just prefer District 9.

Are you meaning that as a positive or a negative? Because I can only see giving an artist more paint as a massive plus.

Well TBH Neill would have been my second choice if Ridley wasn't on the list. As to that comment, I meant it for what I said. Having never directed anything for myself, it's hard to imagine how much of an effect this would have on the director, but I would think a movie with a large budget would be logistically much harder to pull off than a movie with a small budget. I'm also of the opinion that many directors pour the top half of their overbloated budget into unnecessary CGI, etc.

I acknowledge that I could be wrong in this instance, but if I had to make the choice I would rather pick the tried-and-true director than the 'young and made one really good movie' director.
