honestly, if we didn't land on the moon and said we did, the russians would of called us on it, remember, this was the cold war, the russians were highly invested in making us look bad.

The first astronauts to land on the moon died when ther hellmets failed to protect them from rapid decompression and their heads popped like grapes or cherries so the government faked the moon landing and paid off the families to say the actors were thoses dead astronauts so that the US could say we were the first on the moon until technology improved!!!

Umm... I'm sorry, I have to ask. What on freaking earth does the moon landing have to do with religion? :/

Some religious fundamentalists believe that it is impossible for a human to go past "the sky" (atmosphere), because that's where heaven is. Therefore, if it is impossible to go past the sky, it is impossible to reach the moon.

I love to ask these kinds of people how satellite TV, and cellphones work. They always give such delightfully moronic answers.

Luner Laser Ranging (LLR) reflectors where left on the moons surface during Apollo missions 11, 14, and 15. These Laser Range finders have been used since then calculate distances of asterial bodies, terrestrial placement, and a host of other intresting information.

currently the active Luner Laser Range operation center is located on Appache Point (constructed specificly for this purpouse)

I've only read the fist page, but nobody everyone who has an opinion so far seem to be citing a source. Don't you have your own common sense? Look:

The USA and the Soviet were in a space race. They were sworn enemies and rivals. Do you really think that if the US faked the moon landing, the Russians would just sit their on their asses all silent and not calling their bluff? They were the only people on earth besides the Americans with the required technology to actually find out. But they didn't call the bluff. In fact, they said nothing. The only reasonable explanation is that they simply were ashamed and embarrassed that the "American dogs" beat them to that achievement, and basically won the Space Race, even though the Russians had better technology.

Unless there was a secret pact between the USA and the USSR, where they agree to some kind of deal...What did they get in exchange for their silence? God only knows...

Well that's one of the points of contention (and about the only one I agree with out of the whole conspiracy theory): the Russians got the first man into space, but didn't have the technology to land a man on the moon. The Americans, despite being behind in the space race, managed to "land on the moon" shortly after - which seems a bit odd since they were incapable of getting a manned space flight previously.

All the other stuff the conspiracy theorists is a load of bull, with rational explanations for (the shadows? Really?) - of course the "wire in the flag" thing sounds a bit daft (as shouldn't the flag have floated by itself) but then one has to remember that Americans like their patriotism and would have wanted the flag displayed in full, so probably did it as a "just in case".

For anyone wondering - I believe that we did get men on the moon in that time period. But, as with all conspiracy theories, amongst the bullshit are some arguments that do make a bit of sense.

I think the fact it was achieved with such little technology makes it all the more impressive, not less possible. It was an incredibly risky adventure, and the people that went up were incredibly lucky to survive.
