If you're playing single player stuff then do whatever. Don't bring that crap to multiplayer stuff though.

I'm also of the mindset that I don't care if you cheat to get through single-player or a CPU match up.

However, when it comes to multiplayer: Don't be that guy. Just don't. Please. I'd hate to ban you for being that guy.

It depends on what game I'm playing. (or online/offline)
Back when I used to play the Sims, I cheated so much. But it made the game a whole lot more fun. Going god mode in Postal is fun, too.

You're only cheating yourself. If a game is more fun when cheating for sustained periods of time, that means the developers were doing it wrong.

as long as you dont brag about cheating, its all your decision. but yes, if cheating makes a game funner, then the developers failed.

Cheating in a single player game is an individual choice, and only really affects the person playing. When you multi-player or online it becomes a different stroy. Yes, you are enhancing your experience and score, but you are also detracting from or destroying the fun of others. I see cheating in multi-player as an admission of weakness, a statment saying "I can't beat you within the established rules." Glitching falls under this as well.

when first saw this thread i thought it was about cheating on your boyfriend/girlfiend. in which case i was like, "......... how is that not immoral?"

but then i kept reading. lol

as long as it doesn't really effect gameplay, like the DK and Paintball modes in Goldeneye 007

I recently came upon the idea of a gameshark. (I bought two)
At first i would only use it when I got completely stuck, But now i use it all the time.
Is this OK or should i not.
I cant help it either, any time i play a game I always subconciously put the gameshark in.
Can anyone help me with my morality dilemma or share stories that are the same.
(I only cheat offline)

*im glad you all hate me*
jk
*I also voted for that*
Does it really matter what others think, and do you really want to play exactly how others want you to play a game?
It's your game and only you can decide how to play it.

I myself am trying to find a gameshark-like device for my 360. They're impossible to find because of the 360's online functions. I don't see why Microsoft can't release a patch which allows you to create an offline-only "cheating" account for this purpose. Make saves dependant on which account is used(don't know if this is already done) and ban anyone that manages to cheat on an online account.

I have never played a Star Wars game that wasn't enhanced by cheating. Other than that I never cheat in games...unless I get stuck.

I've said immoral, however, if no one gets hurt or it doesn't give you a unfair advantage, no foul.

For example:

> Taking notes into a exam, bad.

> Putting in a weapon cheat on GTA IV to blow stuff up and relieve tension, no harm

> Resource cheats on Age games, bad

> Taking notes into a interview, no harm. To clarify, most interviews allow notes, however most people don't realise.

So by cheating, you are talking about a game 'exploit' where you can bypass the way that the developers intended the the game to be played?
That is really subjective, and there are just too many variables to give a black and White answer. If the exploit allows you to continue in the games as opposed to giving up in total frustration then you could argue that the exploit is actaully 'valid'. However, if it's just to get yourself the biggest sword, or run around in God mode, well you have to trust your own sense of fair play.
(Me, I would play in God Mode everytime... ;) )

I hate you... just kidding... but I DID vote for that...

I love you man... *drunk*

But honestly.. I don't understand cheating... in either SP or MP gaming.

If you cheat with something like Gameshark in an SP game... you're not getting the real challenge or experience.

And cheating in MP just ruins the experience for everyone IMO.

But I barely play MP..... to me, I like to play the game as intended for the true experience. There in lies the real challenge.

Babbling....

I do use cheats in single player but only after finishing the game normally first. Some cheats are quite fun, more like Easter-eggs, like the cobra cars in AOEII and the monster truck in AOEIII. I can't remember what game i saw it in (im sure there have been a few) but you could tweak the gore to have exploding corpses and ridiculous amounts of blood etc.

Cheating is mostly if not only moral after you've completed the game, playedthrough it at least twice, gotten bored of it and now want to just stuff around on it being godlike!

Other cases your just sad because you cant make the game work and you suck!
