The next big war is most likely to be a direct result of something North Korea does. Kim Jong-Il is already on thin ice with most world leaders, it wouldn't take much for him to push someone over the edge and start a war. It would probably play out with N. Korea opening up hostilities against a neighboring nation which will act as a catalyst to get Team America: World Police all up in their shit.
The scary thing is that N. Korea is one of the few nations with nukes that lacks the good sense not to use them casually. With that in mind, a war with N. Korea will end up escalating into a full scale nuclear conflict. And, when that happens...well, we can say goodbye to our old friend Earth. But, hey...don't be sad, we had a good run on the planet and lasted longer than we probably should have.

There's always a war somewhere. But we're talking big ones, and that takes political will. I can only think of two major powers capable of mustering that sort of oomph these days- Russia and China. Of those two, I believe Russia is the more likely to start throwing weight around. "Oh Crap!" scenario: Russia v. China. Unlikely, but frequently discussed in the past.
Flareups with Iran or North Korea would be ugly but probably wouldn't get to full-scale war. I hope.

2 things(although I'm sure they have already been said),
#1 The next war will be fought over either oil or food and water so where ever those are plentiful, there will be war.
#2 Why is North Korea vs South Korea up there? On top of the fact that the war never ended, they are closer to unification now than they have been in a while.

While Africa turns into one big war zone. The smaller ambitious countries will team up and become then next super nation(Armenia, Latvia, Syria, The Maldives, Cyprus, etc.). Then NATO will get suspicious and poke an bit then the Russians and Chinese will fight over who gets to fight NATO and Patches(because if you fit all of them just right they look like a kitty and because they'd most likely look patched together).
And After the borders are set there will only be three(or so) and we'll be in the war described by 1984.

The war is going to be in the north pole and the south pole, as countries make preemptive strikes on the now accessible resources in those places.

Groups of very pissed off middle eastern folk will attack Israel and one another, Africa will fall due to drought, lack of relief and wars, Asia is going to be hit by the upcoming and expected pandemic, and the rest of the world will quarantine themselves to escape it all.
BUT THEN IT GETS INTERESTING!
Countries will fall, people will emigrate, new countries and governments will emerge, and either we will all grow from the experience, or just go fuck it and drop da nukes!
