After watching the Office many times I can't help, but feel strange when trying to judge Michel Scott. I mean he acts like a jerk, but is he doing it on accident or is he perfectly aware of what he's doing? It's just weird... What do you think? I'm so confused.

Which Office...?
I mean the American Michael is just dumb, but the British Michael just seems awkward...

I would just say both awkward and stupid, the second leading to the first.

He's just a social retard, I think. He doesn't realise when he is being a jerk.

The British one was the original. The American one was sort of a remake but they started changing stuff to give it its own life. I think.

This is true.
And, just my opinion, I like US Office better, although, I haven't watched UK Office too much...
:/
Anyway, the only British comedy I like is Mighty Boosh, so, you know, acording to some I have piss poor UK humour tastes...

I don't think he does anything to hurt anyone. He's not that kind of guy, he just doesn't think. So I'd say it's just awkwardness, I guess.

I like everyone in the Office except for michael. I can't stand him. He is the one reason i don't watch the show. I just don't find his gimmick to be funny, it makes me annoyed.

The British Boss's name is actually David, so I think the OP is talking about the American version.

Personally, I think he's just a little clueless. In his own mind, he's not aawkward, dumb, or politically incorrect in any way. But the way he comes across is just awkward. I think he's mainly a good guy trying to be everyone's friend, but he's just two steps behind everyone else in a lot of ways. He's not a dumb guy, though, I don't believe. He has been shown as being a capable negotiator, as well as a very good salesman, so he has intelligence, he just uses said smarts in really dumb ways.

Same here, I just don't really get British Humour and this applies toward the British Office as well.

From what I've seen from the British version though makes me see him as just brutally akward. He's just oblivious to what seems to be going on around him.

It was created here...

Then every other country in the world made one.

OT: I assume you mean the David Brent character, in which case I think he's so self-aware that he is totally unself-aware.

For instance, he always tries to make people laugh, always comes out with an unfunny/offensive joke that no one laughs at, and then thinks that he is in fact really funny.

He's blissfully ignorant and awkward.

But he's infinitely better than David--that guy was just a mean bastard.

Still funny, tho. :D
