Did the Orange Box live up to your expectations?

I was told that it was the best deal in gaming history (not quoting IGN or anything), but after I bought the game, I thought the games it contained were the some of the worst I had ever played. Well other that TF2 that is. Portal was too short (I played for like 40-45 min and I'm on Lvl 16 out of 19) and Half-Life 2 got me turned around so many times, I finally gave up. Everyone was saying how good all of the games were, and to get all 5 of them marked way down and on one disk made it a really good idea for a game to get, but it kinda let me down.

I don't want anyone going on about how easy they thought HL2 was or how much I suck at video games or anything like that. Just your opinions, and what you think that.

And as usual, a giant cookie will be rewarded to whoever replies.

P.S. No cookie will be rewarded to the people that reply.

Portal did, team fortress 2 did not and Half Life has the worst hype/quality ratio in gaming.

Half Life was an amazing game for it's time. Team Fortress 2 still is one of the best multiplayer games you can get. As for portal, I didn't find it as good as most people said, but it was all made up for when I heard the credits song.

I had never played a Half Life game before I bought the Orange Box.

Portal was one of the most artistic games I've ever played.

Who cares if its too short? A game should only go on so long as it can keep things feeling fresh.

I got so much value out of it.

i got it for the half life 2 episodes back in the day.
in my opinion portal was great but there was nothing to bring me back once i completed it. the half life 2 episodes were good but a little short. and i dont like tf2 that much as i am the worst tf2 player in history (i see it as a fun game though).

p.s: sorry if i missed the point of this topic.

I personally found Half-Life 2 to be lacking a certain indefinable quality of gameplay, it just wasn't as much fun as (for example) Halo. And this is a big deal when your promised by numerous independent sources "the best FPS ever."

And Team Fortress 2?! No split-screen? No tutorial? Not even the option to test out the maps and classes on your own without jumping into the unforgiving realm of Matchmaking? Nearly ruined the whole thing for me.

Still a great experience overall, and a great value to boot.

EDIT: I have the 360 version by the way.

I didn't get the orange box, but Portal was good, I didn't like HL much but it's still a good deal, and I haven't played enough of TF2 to get a good idea of it. But the orange box is a very good deal

Although I don't own The Orange Box, I've played all the games on it before, and it is a great pack of games, for a decent price too.

I agree so much with you. Everyone hyped the orange box to god status and when I played it, it was absolute crap. I couldn't stand it.

Preordered it, played it loads.
& It's my most played game this week.

Yes, best value game package I have ever bought.

Anyone buy it on PC and say it's overhyped ect?

Not only did it meet my expectations, but it far surpassed them. I had no idea TF2 could be so fun, and Portal just rocks.

Half life 2 is a good to very good but honestly typical first person shooter, same for the episodes, team fortress two is one of the best multiplayer games i've ever played, and portal is GENIUS. I'd probably have been willing to pay up to £70-80 for that, and I got it for at most half that.
