i have talked to people, i was having a chat in regards to the Past and he told me 'The Past isn't important' now i didn't agree to this at all.

I believe that the past is the making of who you are and how you got here, its important to everyone to have something to chat about because your memories and your past will either positively or negatively influence you and lead you to different places. its like if we just demolished all the museums because 'its just the past'

now i'll be honest i had a pretty rough background, i won't go into it but ill just say it was pretty bad and traumatic. but i wonder a lot about what if? like if i never had this stuff happened how different would i be?

would i be a worse person or a better one? but yet people say you shouldn't let the past affect you but it does because in some cases wouldn't those events shape your morality and personality? What about you guys like do you feel as if your past has affected your Personality, opinions on the world and or changed you for better or worse?

Or another question is what if you forgot your past all of it. do you think that people will see a change in your personality?

but yeah discuss my readers i guess if you can decipher my mad talk

I don't think there is any reason to be hung up on the past, but obviously things in the past inform who you are now.

I think the mistake some people make is assuming people who are not hung up on their past had a good past. I learned when I was growing up there's little point in saying you had a rough past because nearly everyone did. Some people did not, some people had it worse, some people had it better but everyone has gone through shit.
There is of course a place for the past, some people let the bitterness about the shit that happened to them haunt them forever, and other people just decide that yes bad things happened and some of them will never be okay but you have to move on.

I'm not quite sure about the other question, though, because if I forgot my past I would be a person with amnesia. I wouldn't be me at all, that's kinda obvious.

Asking 'what if?' is a completely natural thing to do but it shouldn't be dwelled on as you cannot change the past. Sometimes it's best to think about 'what was' and learn from it.

Pretty much this.

The past is important yes, and it pretty much did shape me into what I am today. Sure, there are some things that happened back then I'm not exactly proud of, but all I can do is learn from those experiences and move on.

I avoided reading the OP because it might have given the answer away.

Yes, it is important because what happened then affects things in the present and future. What someone has done in the past lets others know what kind of person they are. With no past, they're no one.

No, I'm firm believer of the whole "don't dwell in the past, look forward to the future" since the past had already happen which you cannot changed no matter how much you want to.

Yes my past wasn't great either as the friends I made in High School pretty much tormented my High school life but I made some wonderful new friends after my High School years (yes you can apply the whole what if the friend in High School were actually act like a good friend to me).

Beside how does that apply to people who want to start a new leaf?

Ok yes the past is still important in some ways but you shouldn't be hold back and be define by it.

The past made me who I am - but it doesn't define me. It's what I do with the future that is the most important thing.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are.
