So I guess the default food everyone thinks of when posed with this question is ice cream, but why the hell can't we take it one step further in the discussion? I mean, this is some serious shit we're talkin' about here! THIS GOES ALL THE WAY UP TO THE VICE-FUCKING-PRESIDENT! Perhaps even further...

In general, which do you like more for ice cream? -There's the poll for 'ya.

But are there exceptions for you? Do some deserts win you over to the other side?

Which was more disappointing to taste as a child - straight cocoa powder or vanilla extract?

Just how much chocolatey-richness is too much to you? Is there even such a thing?? Do you even want to know???

...

Or, you know, you could just a give the regular response... [sub]I guess.[/sub]

Vanilla, not sure why. I think it's because I can have chocolate anytime and in any form (chocolate milkshake, bar, hot, coated and etc) while there are fewer vanilla based sweet, food and drinks of it. Also I can never get tried of vanilla ice cream while at times I can with chocolate.

Usually Vanilla with chocolate sauce. If it's soft serve, I'll sometimes have chocolate, but for some reason I'm not a big fan of chocolate hard ice cream.

Can't really decide... so... marble?!

Both have their place in my heart... or rather, my stomach, so... eh... -_-

However, I do like a good bit of crema di marscapone... where's that option?!

Vanilla, chocolate ice cream is gross. Which is strange because chocolate everything else is delicious.

Between the two, Vanilla.

Chocolate ice cream just doesn't taste like real chocolate to me, regardless of brand.

If given the option, I'd prefer Strawberry though...

I'm vanilla.

As much as I love chocolate, ice cream of that flavor does not taste like chocolate in other goodies I desire and devour. It's always been a bit bittersweet to me. I guess like dark chocolate? Which is interesting considering the color is more milk chocolate looking.

Marble is yummy too though and I'm more than willing to eat both at the same time.

Vanilla. Chocolate ice cream just doesn't do it for me; it's never chocolatey enough. It just doesn't quite taste of chocolate. On the other hand, vanilla ice cream (and proper ice cream, not that weird yellow stuff you get in tubs from supermarkets that's half frost) can be wonderfully sweet, creamy and delicious. Even the softserve stuff you get from ice cream vans is good. Chocolate ice cream just never seems to match up.

However, other flavours such as strawberry, toffee, honeycomb and caramel are better. Vanilla is actually one of the lesser ice cream flavours to me. It's just that chocolate seems to be the only one that drops the ball on tasting good.

Either, honestly. Just depends on the situation. Chocolate is often better on its own, while vanilla is good in things, like ice cream sandwiches.
Mmmm... Ice cream sandwiches.

Chocolate, I love chocolate.

Chocolate cake, chocolate biscuits and my favourite chocolate is Toblerone. You can't go wrong with Toblerone .... unless you don't like nougat or chocolate in which case you are a sick individual and your soul is dead .... DEAD

On Topic though ....

Still chocolate.

I used to grab a spoonful of cocoa powder when I was a nipper and my mum was making a cake. Always ended up snorting some of it though ... should have learned not to breathe in when cocoa powder is only an inch away from nostrils.

Usually chocolate, unless the vanilla-flavoured thing is top quality shit. Vanilla stuff is usually pretty bland, but nice vanilla stuff is fucking awesome (Waitrose vanilla custard is the tastiest thing in the known universe).

If we're talking just ice cream though, mint choc chip will kill vanilla's fucking pansy arse. And chocolate, it just doesn't give a fuck, it's too damn delicious to care about your other shitty flavours (which is why if you have a scoop of a different flavour it always overpowers it, it's that good).

For ice cream, vanilla.

Chocolate ice cream doesn't taste right, nor is it as chocolatey as vanilla ice cream if you add some chocolate milk shake mix, cocoa or just melt plain chocolate into it.

Also, vanilla ice cream is far more versatile and can be used as a good base for many desserts and milkshakes (e.g. mixing coffee granules with milk and vanilla ice cream makes a nice coffee milkshake), whereas chocolate ice cream is a poor base as it has an overpowering taste and texture of whatever it is that is suppose to taste like chocolate but doesn't.

I guess they mustn't add enough proper sugar to bring out the flavour, or just use a poor cocoa derivative, but whatever it is, most chocolate ice cream just tastes slightly wrong (like teleported steaks in The Fly).

Ooh, I like this guy's way of thinking. I really do.

I myself like both, so ends up being a coin toss to see what I'd take for the day.
