This draws (obviously) on the two pills offered my Morpheus in the Matrix. If you haven't seen the Matrix, and are able to crawl out from under your rock, I'll briefly explain what I mean.
The Matrix is a computer generated world that is designed to simulate reality. You see it as the normal life but your body is actually laying in a vat with a load of wires attached to it. As Morpheus says to Neo, "You've been living in a dream world."
Morpheus offer's Neo two pills. Taking the blue pill means that you will simply wake up in your bed. Maybe you believe it's all a dream, but forever you'll be wondering what would've happened if you took the red pill and whether what you got told was true.
Taking the Red Pill on the other hand means that you wake up in the real world. You face the horror of all those people in vats still plugged into the Matrix. And you have to try and live your life with the knowledge that everything you had done in your life wasn't real.
So, which pill do you take?
[I had to write an essay on this stuff. Good excuse to watch the Matrix though.]
