Hello everyone.
I finished playing the Sacrifice for Left 4 Dead 2, and was wondering what others thought about it.

Personally I felt it was poorly realized. The maps felt like a rehash of all the other DLC's, especially since they have used the same architecture and set as Crash Course and The Passing, and no new special infected, or weapons.

What did you think

I'm playing it right now. I'm enjoying it to be honest. Seems like a good spend.

They didn't need to add new infected or weapons because they were using the ones fom the second one, which the first survivors hadn''t come across before (which should have been more prominant in the dialogue) but you're right they did use very similar maps to Crash Course, and it fit the story to use the same finale section from the Passing so you can't knock them for that. But overall I thought it was really good and I enjoy the finale bit more than some of the others as there seems to be more of a panic to it

You lie there is no poll, oh and never played it.
Then why would it matter if the poll was there or not? You would vote without basis?

OT: I've only played the first 1 and a half levels in the sacrifice, game crashed and couldn't be bothered to play again atm. It looked pretty good, just more l4d tho, nothing spectacular. But new campaigns are always good, the same 4-5 levels get rather old pretty quickly for me.

I really like the second part. It's very atmospheric, very true to the first game. I enjoyed it, and will probably play a few more times to get all the acheivments.

I've not played the L4D2 part of this yet, but I just tried to play through the L4D version on Easy, and it kicked my ass hard.

Level design is more confusing and just less polished than earlier L4D and L4D2 content, and that finale is so badly balanced it's not funny.

I was playing single player, on easy difficulty after failing Normal a few times, but this of course means that my character is the poor guy(or girl) that gets to die while re-starting the generator. However the other 3 AI controlled guys on the bridge do nothing, while you have to solo at least 2 tanks (yes even on easy) while holding the button for several seconds to fire up the generator.

It's blatantly obvious that Valve didn't have their best guys working on the levels for the older game. I'll try L4D2 Sacrifice later.

I tried it on normal and was determined to beat it on that, it took me 5 tries but I did it eventually...but the best way is to kill one or two of them then throw a bile bomb on any remaining tanks and use adrenaline just before reavching the generator.

Yes, it's hard but sometimes I think some of the other campaigns are too easy, so I like that they have made this one a lot harder...it makes for a more panickey (you know what I mean) finale.

It was free, so that's always good. It was fun though, although when I tried it online I was stuck with some French guy playing as Bill that refused to get on the bridge and instead when I said "get on the bridge we can't continue", he kept saying "no, sacrifice!" like I was roleplaying or some shit. I had to kick him because he couldn't understand that the game wouldn't allow us to continue unless he was on the bridge, because the sacrifice is a scripted event. He just kept saying "go on without me" and stuff like that. It was hilarious and at the same time frustrating, because I was not roleplaying.

Apart from that, it was fun. I liked the conversations between survivors and it's a new campaign. There's a shitload of those hazard suit zombies too, so I get to hear the farting noise all the time.

I really loved the finale... just a pity I couldn't get the guy playing Zoey to go ad kill herself - stealing all my painkillers *grumble*

Ok, it works fine on L4D2 and is completely crap on L4D.

Makes me wonder why they even bothered to make the L4D version. It really is terrible.

On another note, I wish I could use those characters in the other L4D2 campaigns. The original 4 are so much better than the new guys.

Played both and I totally agree. Map 1 is a maze, Map 2 has some nice ideas, Map 3 is a clusterfuck.

Very little difference between the two versions...no extra sounds for when the Survivors hit an acid puddle. Like the comic it just seems like it was phoned in.

(I KNOW that some poor sod's put a huge amount of work into this, but it just wasn't ... enjoyable. It felt like a grind)

Still waiting for it to download. From what I have seen it looks quite good though.

Best thing from this so far is having No Mercy with original characters on the official servers in L4D2.

I'm pretty sure this will also mean we can have custom maps with the first survivors in, so I'll happily await those as well.

The new campaign was ok, but nothing special. Wouldn't pay for it.

Not played it yet, but since it's free I don't think I'd be able to complain about not getting value for money.
