This has likely been done before, but that's okay. Like hatchets, fresh faces and new experiences change opinions.

Due to disease, genetic stagnation, sterility, or (insert species death here) Humanity is slowly dying out. However, there is a ray of hope. You. Within your living flesh lies the secret to rejuvinate the species. Scientists and doctors could develope a way to save us from our eventual demise. This of course comes at a cost.

You would have to submit youself to lots of medical and scientific prodding. It may end up killing you or leaving you crippled, and there is no guarantee that there would be a "cure."

It would be a gamble. Would you be willing to make the sacrifice?

Sure, as long as they promise to kill me if the procedures leave me a vegetable.
I don't want to be a vegetable.
But seriously, I would. Why am I more important than 7 billion people?

I honestly have no idea what I'd do.

I'd like to think I'd be brave but to be honest, I'd probably just avoid the situation and keep my head down, like when a teacher asks a question and you don't know the answer so you just look at the floor.

Not unless they could justify an avenue of scientific study that would be likely to be useful. They're pretty bad scientists if they're killing off humanity's last chance for a dissection or something rubbish like that. I also get the feeling that if the public knew I'd have effectively no free will in this situation.

I've grown out of that immature and foolish "All of humanity sucks" grimdark mindset a very long time ago, so I'd naturally say yes as long as they'd be able to successfully extract the cure.

As long as they sign a contract agreeing to augment me Adam Jensen style if I'm left crippled. They'd do everything they could to keep me alive, given that the cure would die with me, and if I didn't help I'd die anyways.

But man, retracting sunglasses attached to my face and punching through walls... how could I say no?

I honestly don't know, especially if there could be no guarantee, i don't want to be crippled or left a vegetable, but letting all of humanity die would be a bit much for me i think. That's the most honest answer i can give is "I don't know"

All this medical b.s. ... Eh, maybe if I got treated like a king while they prodded.

I don't think I would...

Humanity is dying out... I would be part of that humanity. So one way or another, I'm going to die anyway. Probably before my time.

But if I offer myself up at this medical sacrifice... they may live or they may not. I might live or not after what the doctors and scientists do to me.

One scenario, we're doomed for certain. The other scenario, there is a slim chance everyone can live...

Except for me. Because my chances for death have actually increased.

Yeah, I'm just not one for sacrifice. Especially for one that could have a very high potential of being absolutely in vain and meaningless.
