Any "what song are you listening to?" threads make me hurl. I come to loathe them, because eventualy they turn into either a Metallica vs. Megadeth thread(can't I like both?), or a Hiphop vs. everything else thread...
So true. What I listen to is so rough and brutish that it gets a very bad rep.
You kinda have me ask: "what then?" here...

Soooo, What music might that be?

YES I'M A CURIOUS PERSON!
Mostly death metal and its various bastard offspring. Most people can't stand it and call it noise. I respond to these people by turning the music up louder.

But that means that the programmers would have to do some code editing. I suppose if we gave them enough Cheetos and Mountain Dew they'd do it.

Why all the modern warfare 2 hate? threads. I mean seriously, does everyone have to like the game you like? Do you really need to carry out a multi thread crusade to belittle everyone that doesn't like your shitty games?

That's kind of the music I like too, but when people tell me it's shit, I play whatever they hate worse. Usually spice girls, or in 1 case even Milli Vanilli=)

Anyway, the bashing of music is not fun, nor wholesome...

Everyone knows metal is the best anyway. B)

joke offcourse...:p

Threads saying how awesome the OP's avatar is. Seriously, we've had some rampant threads on that very topic.
This, I mean seriously, how insecure can someone be that they have to be assured that their avatar is great in order to feel good about themselves. A certain person even made a poll on weather or not we cared about him changing his avatar, I mean just because you post a lot doesn't mean I give a damn about your avatar.

Username threads. I think I wrote down the exact same thing 4 times over. The search bar needs a dustoff, people!

Also a no-go, 'What is your favorite'- thread. Games, movies, trailers, meals, pets, T-shirts...Somehow they all end up in a 'Yo momma'-style.

Edit: Last one got ninja'd. GAH, that reminds me of one heck an annoying thread-type: How many times did you [insert lame suggestion here]- threads. They-Just-Don't-Die.>_<

There's an awful lot of threads that actually start off as informative bits of video game news... Why would we want those?
No, the most repeated ones are the ones about <insert newest slightly open-ended game here>. When it was ME2, I was a shameless contributor, and I suspect most of my minuscule number of posts here are to do with that game in some way or other... Due to my lack of PS3 though, I can't do the same thing to Heavy Rain. That's probably a good thing

At the moment mass effect threads are very popular. But advice threads are on the rise.

The ubiquitous "What things do you hate?" threads.

I find them noteworthy not only because they show up all the time, but also because they all contain exactly the same responses. You can scroll through pages and pages of people ranting about Twilight and the Jonas Brothers.

Before anyone complains, this is a joke. I just want to know what the most common and tired thread ideas are so that others may avoid making them before checking.

I'd say VS. threads and anything about Halo.
Never mind that, what the hell if your avatar from?!
You have no idea how many times I've been asked that.
It's from a Japanese commercial for Dole bananas. Got it from 4chan.

People whining about FF XIII when it hasn't even been released yet.
Just say people whining about any game before it's released.

Also, I'm surprised with the amount of hate for games about recent videogames, given that this is a videogame magazine website. I know over saturation makes things less fun, but it's not like you can do anything about it. If a game is good/popular, people are going to talk about it.

Me, I'm sick and tired of the classic "What will Yatzhee think about ________"
Or the worst is the "The video for today is ten minutes late! Why is there no video?! Is anyone else angry?!"

The ones that never seemed to end are the "What superpowers do you want and why?" I mean all of last summer the site was over flown with these threads.

Threads where any elitism is involved at all, whether it be people talking about how Jonas Brothers or Twilight fans are stupid or whether it's someone going on about how there are stupid people in the school and whatnot.

Deal with it, not everyone is as clever as you, let them be stupid and come to terms with it, trust me, you'll have more fun.

You appear to have taken my joke, and perversed it with spite.

Shame on you.

You made me chuckle, which is something.

On Topic, I think the threads I find the most annoying are the 'which threads are overused?' threads (ironic no?). They crop up whenever there's a new big release, and the forums get swamped for a short while with huge numbers of threads about the game, and then the backlash of 'stop the threads about [insert game here].'

Also, 'Do you think the Escapist is going downhill?' Seriously, if you think that, then leave, or post it on a different website.

Threads that people rip off of /b/ like "you laugh you lose." Ugh. Seriously this is a gaming site. We don't want that trash on here. Like I said before, I really don't want to see The Escapist overrun with b-tards and become a site that I won't want to visit.

The "Something you've heard of that nobody else has" threads. Seriously, nobody gives a shit. I find them to be so incredibly pompous, and they really need to stop.
