As long as it is populated with people from this planet it will end up being a shithole. And by reading that short summary there I got the feeling that whoever wrote that has little to no knowledge about economy and human psychology. Pluss such things have been atemted before once even on a pretty large scale but it went to shit anyways.

I think the best place for this kind of society is indeed Venus!

Indeed, they don't have to work hard to make a decent place into a hellhole, they can start living in one right away.

Well, I have thought of such a society too. I feel like everyone should have mandatory schooling in robotic engineering and whatnot for the sake of maintaining the machines.

Though I did read a book that essentially had such a world, with I guess a bleak version, since everyone was very isolated from everyone else. He couldnt even find the door to outside.
