I am waiting for a LoZ special edition WiiU (hopefully to be bundled with whatever new LoZ game comes out for the WiiU) although my housemate has one and they're pretty cool.
There needs to be a "Hardcore: Observing" for those that are still deciding/waiting to see.The Nossa said:So the Wii U has been out for just over a month in Australia, however not many "non-gamers" know about it, let alone are considering a purchase.
So my question is. What type of gamer do you class yourself? And whats your stance on the Wii U?

I'll wait to see if u can add that before voting.
Let's be honest with ourselves here, the Wii had how many controller options and how many games allowed you to chose other options? I have a few games that say motion controls only so while that's not damming, it doesn't mean it's something you can expect to allow freedom of choice either.Nazulu said:Yes, that may be the answer. Thank you. I don't know how I missed that one.TehCookie said:You mean like this?Nazulu said:I keep forgetting what casual and hardcore mean. Is it how much time you spend playing them? Or how difficult the games you play are? Or a collection of both? I guess I'm either one or the other depending on the game.
The Wii U has nothing I want and I hate it's fat controller. I would actually consider getting it if they still gave me the option for the Gamecube controller or something similar, and not make most big games based around the gimmick. Why can't they give fucking options? Why in the future when every thing is meant to become more convenient/easier, I usually find myself having to adjust to something new and flawed?
I'm not going to dismiss it altogether, but I really don't trust Nintendo at all at the moment. I actually bought all the other consoles on the first day they came out (starting from the SNES), so it's a big deal to me. I'll never forget how amazing they were.

OT: I'm a softcore gamer and I have to wait for more games to judge a console. That tablet controller looks gimmicky and while it may be fun from time to time or if used right I can't see myself playing it seriously for extended periods. Actually I wouldn't even be able to since the charge only lasts 3 hours.
I'll have to try it out first, and of course I'll then have to wait and see if they make it for the games I want.
Why does it look more like an Xbox controller? Would've prefered another Gamecube controller type design.
Sounds like my exercise regime.likalaruku said:I'll just end up sitting on my ass in the exercise room playing hardcore games most of the time. .
I find it damming when I really don't want to play those games because of the controls.Snotnarok said:Let's be honest with ourselves here, the Wii had how many controller options and how many games allowed you to chose other options? When I had my hands on, I too found that the controller was remarkably light *for what it is* and not that I'm saying it's comfortable *and I only had 20 minutes hands on* but it wasn't shockingly bad. However the smaller screen felt like a complete waste; If I had been given the Xbox-like controller and knew nothing about the Wii U I would have been shocked when told it was designed for a controller with a panel in it.BBboy20 said:I just read all the comments in the forum segment of the Jimequistion about the WiiU winning the next console war and I wonder, for those who posted there back in September, what your opinions of the WiiU now due to it being released and your personal experiences with it.
I tested it out recently at a local Best Buy and what I can comment about it is that journalists weren't joking on how awesome the GamePad is. I never thought something so big and wide can feel so comfortable and light. THey weren't kidding when describing the thing in the previews I've read and testing the screen out for the Rayman demo, 90% percent of the time it works and it doesn't feel like a chore to utilize. Hell, I may not have a problem using it as my primary controller whenever I actually get a WiiU.
