So i played the witcher one and two, and enjoyed the characters, world, motivations etc and i was wondering if anyone who has read the books could tell me if its simular, i enjoy reading alot and im always looking for new books, i was actualy out shopping today in the afternoon looking for this book:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blood-Elves-Andrzej-Sapkowski/dp/0575084847/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338675683&sr=8-1

The first novel in the witcher series (not including the short stories), alas to no avail could i actualy find a copy so amazon is the place i'll be getting it from, but before purchase i was just wondering how the game and books compare, because if its anything like the game then i know im in for a good read.

Added a pole for lazy feedback.

*Edit

Ok so firstly thanks for the feedback so far, i think i need to clarify somthing though, im not asking if the books and games have a continueous story what im asking is do they share simular plot elements, characterisation, and so forth, and yes in reply to Vicarious Reality's question the games are based on the books, which is why i wanted to know howmuch they have in common.

Set way before the first game.

The game is a sort of continuation of the story. As far as i'm aware (or what i've read up to and haven't found any books after) they end when....

Geralt is killed

But the story line is very similar and gives a lot of insight into some of the characters in the games.

iv been reading the last wish (short stories) and been playing through the first one. the only connection between the first game and the last wish is the opening to the game. its a shot by shot of the ending of the first story in the last wish. i think the books/stories just gives you more insight to the characters and past events that dont take part in the games. i havent gotten far into the games but i wonder if they touch on the Blaviken massacre
