Poll: The world is gonna end, why?

Well I've never heard of an animal wiping itself out. I don't think it will be us doing it to ourselves. Even if we do nuke ourselves I don't think that would be enough to kill all of us, and we would rebuild. That might take hundreds of years in a "dark age" full of little tribes, but I think we'll be fine.

The only thing I could see wiping out humanity would be something along the lines of a meteor or cataclysmic event that defastates the planet.

Edit: If you're talking about just civilization being devistated to the point of being unrecognisable then there are a lot of options...

While nuclear war IS one of the most likely options, I don't think it'll be a case of world war. My friend explained it to me recently during a game of Chrononauts (a card game where you get to mess around with time like assassinating Hitler, making the Titanic hit a derelict underwater mine and exploding rather than hitting an iceberg... even creating World War 3...)

the way he explained it was that the only reason that WW3 would happen would be if we hadn't had the second World War and seen the destructive power of a Nuke in action. Because of that one event in history, we've learned they're not just toys to be played with and world leaders are a lot more careful because of it. While there are rogues and terrorists who would threaten to use a nuke, and possibly actually go through with it, it becomes in everyone's best interest, friend and foe alike, to stop such a tragedy from occurring. Because we've learned NOT to use them, there's much less likely a chance that we'll go into a nuclear war as opposed to if Hiroshima never happened and we didn't realise the potential of such a weapon until everyone had one ready to launch.

I think the CURRENT world is going to end by way of 'accension' I.E. Humanity is visited upon by beings of a greater intelligence that teach humanity how STUPID it is being and allows them to 'evolve' into greater beings (that is, to become LESS stupid).

Plus, if it came to society having to rebuild itself to a self-sustainable state. The head of this society would be a yorkshireman.

I'm going with super virus. With the rise of Antibiotic resistant diseases and super bugs it seems like a possibility. Maybe it'll be like I am Legend and someone creates a cure to something and mutates into a horrible super virus.

And it is the closest thing to the zombie apocalypse on the poll.

I think that resources will run out, and humanity as a big poo-head hasn't figured something renewable out by then. And then most people will be dead. The end.

I'm not sure. I'm torn between resources running out and pollution causing climate change. Though I voted for a meteor hitting the Earth because, while that chance is small, its always present regardless of what we do (until Asteroid Away that is).

If I have to choose one, I'd say WWIII is the most likely, probably the American's faults AGAIN. But I actually think humanity will live forever. We just need to start sending people into space already!

I chose other, but really, I think it would fall under the category of "WWIII".

Given the apparently obsessive fascination humanity has with zombies these days, I'm gonna go out on a 'crazy limb' and say we're gonna try so fucking hard to create either a 'zombie virus' or something similar, that once one country gets close enough to field testing, they're gonna start WWIII... but with zombies. Which is gonna be amazing...

Realistically speaking though, at the rate we're going, it's definitely gonna be a third world war, and it's gonna pretty much end us.

with all the science we do with genes and vaccines we make to "cure" illness eventually someone will go OOPS and create that vial containing a the human extermination virus...

now that I think about it there was a game I played on newgrounds called Only Once Chance, I think, but yeah that's probably mostly likely to happen.
