All the games on that poll list are awesome games and deserve you praise and worship, except Sonic.
And the worst game I ever played was Project Snowblind.
I love your logic, haha! I feel the same way about FF7 too. I've said a few times already on these forums. The game doesn't deserve the fan-tard following it has. I've played it... when it was new. It was okay, not great. I prefer Final Fantasy 4 or 6.
However, I voted for Half-Life 2, simply for my bias against FPS games. I've played it, it's graphically gorgeous, the controls are tight and responsive. It's just not my cup of tea. Although it did allow me to do for fun what I could not do back in GoldenEye 007 on N64: To be able to write "Die Commie Scum!" in bullet holes without any of them disappearing. XD
I've always considered Super Mario 3 the most epic adventure they've ever crafted for the brave little plumber dude. It's just a massive game (when played without using the flutes). Plus Mario is and always has been a great heroic character. He's the self-less, humble hero that saves the girl and always defeats the bad guy.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is also a great game. Not as great as Sonic 2, but when you lock on Sonic & Knuckles, you get the whole story of it and it's also a very LARGE game. Remember too, it's the last time Sonic ever had REAL commercial success. Sadly, 3-D play fields will always be the thorn in the side of the "blue dude with the 'tude."
Lastly, Zelda: Link to the Past is probably my favorite title in the series. I could never vote this as a bad game... and even if I did, it's too well-crafted of a game to hate it for that reason.
Only Sonic's 3D games deserve to be scorned. In his heyday, those 2D side-scrollers were definitely of the "awesome" variety. Sonic 3 is just a bit of a low point. The second one will always be the favorite of many, many people.
I don't agree with that statment. Their opinion just became a bit more famous, but not as important. I come to believe after watching x-play that money and fame can be a factor in messing up a review.
I second that motion, Yuko. Do you honestly need the obligatory 'yay' or 'nay' from some jackhole on a "professional" review site before you can make up your own mind (if you even get that far)?
Their opinions don't matter to me, nor do they affect my game purchases; Especially when they have NOTHING good to say about a game just because they don't like it (or are being fed large sacks of money with dollar signs on them by Sony or Microsoft).
I'd be increasingly more happy with many reviewers if they could just TRY to set aside their bias for or against certain games and simply evaluate the quality of the game (how it runs, how it controls, any graphical hiccups, etc). If I were in their shoes, I'd be more than happy to do it as I just described because I'd rather gamers read my reviews and come away with important info about a certain title, than go troll said game site's forum about how wrong I am for hating it.

Not only that, but play the whole game! I remember x-play doing a review of an old PC game that they said was aweful with only one bad ending. Ok so the game wasn't that good, but it had multible endings, and wasn't half as bad for the time. The fact is, I rather look at other people playing the game without commentary and judge from that.
half life 2 was a piece of ____. the gravity system frigued the game up for me. the ramp to get across the water in the fan boat won't let me over because it came loose, so half life 2 is definately a peice of ____.
so I guess I'll do a final count
Super Mario 3 5.7% (35)
Sonic the hedgehog 3 33.8% (206)
Zelda: Link to the past 9.7% (59)
Final Fantasy 7 24.3% (148)
Half-life 2 12% (73)
I haven't played any of them and/or surrender 14.4% (88)
sonic loses, though I think far to many people voted for him because of his recent garbage games.
