But whos to say whats a sword and whats a ninja sword. If a sword is frequently used by Ninjas, does that make it a ninja sword? By that logic, a ninja sword being frequently used by clowns would be a clown sword.Veylon said:You're assuming that the set of swords that ninjas use is identical to the set of all swords, which is not the case.Mr Pantomime said:Maybe they are not refering to Ninjato, but another type of sword that ninjas use. In a way, isnt any sword a ninja uses therefore a ninja sword. And If every sword is a ninja sword, then they are no longer ninja swords. Theyre just swords.
A ninjato in the Iga ninja museum - there's other pictures are they appear pretty rusticblue_guy said:Isn't Ninjato just Japanese for Ninja Sword. Anyway, apparently they never existed.
Quick question, do you get pissed if someone calls something "One"? ex. "Toystory one" Or "God of War one"Iwantcandy said:Well, good sir. You see; that's my problem. It actually has a name, therefore I don't like that people refer to it as something that sounds shitty.YouCallMeNighthawk said:What's the big deal? Let people call it what they want.
yeah, i was playing Gmod some time ago, and Claymore popped up in the tf2 browse list. turn out it was the eyelander.Kukakkau said:So... under that idea
You can't call a Claymore a two handed sword
You cant' call a 12lb shot a cannonball
Not everybody knows those names. Get over it
I think this is a bit harsh... Words have always been translated from language to language just because people choose to use a form that is more comfortable to them doesn't make them stupid. I would not expect any other country to call all inventions or techonologies used in English speaking countries by their original name that and to think that anyone actually would expect that.. well that is what sounds stupid to me.Fanta Grape said:Pokeemon, Karatee...
Just two major examples of how the Japanese language gets raped. And I'm Japanese. And yet, I don't care. Because people are stupid. And I've come to accept that.
Non-japanese ninjas are widely known as "spies".Merkavar said:i said ninja cause i dont want to offend the other non japanese ninjas. like that fat white ninjapirates ftw
