However, I'm not sure if I should date her because we been very good friends for a long time and I am afraid if I date her, we can no longer be friends.

That is absolutely NOT TRUE.

My girlfriend and I were pretty good friends before (we met the semester before), and since we started dating we've remained very good friends.

We can be silently cuddling one minute, and then booting up Zero punctuation the next. Dating someone does not mean they are no longer friends. It just means you now have a friend who is also something more. If you and the girl like each other then when the heck are you waiting for? GO FOR IT!

What do YOU want? What is your desire? If you want her, GO! Why is she acting all flirtatious with you, huh? Why would she waste her time flirting with you?

Be a man and act up, you cannot have the cake and eat it too. Either you tell her you like her and go out with her or tell her that you prefer remaining friends and suck it up.

I'm gonna call the coin flip method on this one.

Basically, get a coin, and say Heads you ask her, tails you don't. Then flip the coin. When its in the air, you will be thinking that you hope one side comes up. The side you want to come up is the decision you should make. Done

I'd say do it; I had the oppurtunity to do this a while ago, and ended up not asking. I look back every now and then, and regret it.

The worst that could happen is she says "No", and maybe a few weeks of awkwardness, but that's about it.

I say go for it. If she says no, then it will be awkward for a while but after a while you should go back to being good friends, it will be a hiccup in your friendship, assuming it's that strong.
Besides if you don't, you'll never know. At this point I think being direct is probably your best option, as being subtle now will either come off as weird or she just won't notice.

It was just like this with my gf and I. Going on that first date, no matter how nervous I was, was the best decision I have ever made. So go for it, live the dream while you can and make the most of it. You will regret it if you don't.
