Was there some recent uproar that I'm unaware of? This happens periodically, the talking heads and politicians beat it into the ground for a bit and then move on to somethime else they can get cheap votes and terrorize news watching seniors with.

Pretty much what Swyftstar said. People fear the unknown and some assholes will use that ignorance to further their own agenda. It's nothing new and it has happened before with other media such as comics, tv, music and even books. It will keep happening until people start putting in actual effort towards understanding what games they are buying for their kids.

Fortunately, as the younger generations who grew up in a world with gaming become parents themselves, this sort of stuff will eventually die out for the most part.

Also, I would advise the OP to check his spelling and punctuation a little more. I'm not really bothered by it, but not minding your language tends to be frowned upon on these forums. It will also help you get taken more seriously.

It can get kinda silly sometimes, especially when they start making crap up. For example Mass effect has a sex scene in it near the end, it's nothing much, they don't even show full nudity but it got slammed by FOX news for being a "porn game" all about sex that would corrupt children everywhere because only kids play video games!

Apparently all mass-murderers play video games, which is an obvious link. And some kid hung himself after play Call of Duty. Never mind that he was unhappy at school, argued with his parents and got beaten up, it was clearly an unrealistic video game that killed him!

What I find the silliest of all is that killing tons of humans and/or other various creatures is up to debate if it's 15+ or 18+ but one exposed female nipple is instant 18+ (God forbid a sex scene!)
The thing is, sex is a natural, if very intimate, part of our life. Killing a fellow man is not (at least by social rules, history might say otherwise). The fuck?

So generally yes, it is getting rather silly.

The gaming industry is getting a lot of hate leveled at it by gamers themselves.

Well.

The fact of the matter is the rating system is poorly enforced. It is why some groups are pushing for providing adult material to minors (As in, games that have a higher rating) should be punishable. There is some precedent for this, the remit does cover adult material, cigarettes, alcohol, you get the general idea.

And since the affects of games on children are not fully understood (Please, unless you have actively studied this, just accept that as fact) and we simply do not know if there is a causal link between images of violence and desensitization of violence (Or desensitization of violence and increased violent activity or decreased empathy or anything really) and all the rest, it is only natural for people to be concerned.

People rip on lots of things which are unsuitable for children. And it is natural to do so.

Sorry man but... Whilst sometimes games get hate, anger and rage that is a bit ridiculous, some of the time it is more than justified. Yes, they are regulated, but not as efficiently as other items which are prohibited to children. And no, I am not saying that games are the same as alcohol or cigarettes, I am saying that we simply do not fully know yet.

Was there a point to the rants? People are always thinking of the children, and this accounts for most if not all types of medium. Also please check grammar. Add some full stops and capital letters. I want to breathe.

Honestly, is there one industry that doesn't get too much hate? Is there a single thing in the universe that doesn't get too much hate?

I think pretty much everything gets more hate than it deserves. Take Justin Bieber or Rebecca Black. Neither are artists that I like, but holy crap they are getting hate like they actually did something to personally harm someone. That goes for games, music, films, books, the government or farmers.

He could also add a reason for posting this now, I haven't seen anything on the subject recently and I would be interested in seeing what started the zero punctuation rant.
