I got this text today. I found it interesting and thought this forum, with its love of spelling and grammar, would be a great place to share it.

This will put your dyslexia into a catatonic fit people! To my "strange-minded" friends:

This is something that everyone knows.
I didn't know this. It was actually pretty interesting.

Kudos, OP. ^^ That was truly strange, but also interesting.

I've read this before, it just goes to show that all the time I spent studying for spelling tests was wasted because it really doesn't matter

Still think there isn't a person who can't read this.

Apart from the non-English speaking amongst us.

It's a psychological/association thing if I recall correctly. As long as the first and last letters of any word longer than three letters is the same as the unjumbled word, most people should be able to read it. Honestly, most people won't even notice the difference if they read it straight through instead of taking a second or two to analyze the text.

I have read that one like, a hundred times by now. It's not that hard for anyone without any kind of dyslexia or something like that. Or someone who doesn't understand the language that well.

55 out of a 100 seems a little off, considering we still have a 100% who can read it.

Heh, seems like Bara and I are late to a knowledge party.

I found it interesting is all, sorry for its staleness :p

I think we as regular internet users are at an advantage though, we read regularly every day. Your average person is likely to read less than we and so may have a touch more trouble zipping through it. Nothing to do with intelligence but more to do with exposure.

I have seen this before, but it is still amazing to me that the human brain can interpret this.

This is a pretty well understood effect, and no, 55 out of 100 people is not the right figure, it is more like 99 out of 100 people.

Edit: Heh, check the results of the poll, no one yet has had issue with it.

Had no problems reading it, only took me a little more time than reading the same text would if it wasn't jumbled.

Seen this before, it's a neat liitle thing the first time you learn of it, but's there's no proper application for this sort of thing.

Holy crap, I just realized that first two sentences break the rules stated later.

fi
yuo
cna

These all do not have the first and last letters the same.

I was able to read it although one or two words took a bit longer to figure what it was.
