Ok. For those of you not in the know, in December 2009 The Walt Disney Company "aquired" Marvel Entertainment. I'll allow that to sink in for a moment. Done? No? Ok, I'll give you another one...Done now?

Thats right Mickey Mouse officially OWNS Wolverine now? WTF??

Ok, I'll admit I actually think that it was a smart move for both companies but for the longest time, we really didn't see anything really come from this partnership. Granted there are talks or a Pixar Runaways movies last time I heard but nothing really happened. Cept now.

To promote the December 17th release of Disney?s Tron: Legacy in movie theaters, Disney-owned Marvel Comics will be offering 10 special variant covers to its titles throughout December that sees its characters reimagined Tron-style by artists Brandon Peterson and Mark Brooks!

Now as a fan of both Disney and Marvel, I think this is one of the coolest things ever but I'm curious to see what you guys think. Not just your thoughts about this unusual mash-up but other possibilities you see the Disney/Marvel Team coming up with.

I'm ok with this.

At first I thought Thor was put into Tron universe... which would probably one of the best cross overs ever (next to Punisher+Wolverine+Ghost Rider vs Black Heart and Mephesto or the Batman vs Punisher).

Edit: I gotta say for anyone who thinks Disney is going to force Wolverine into a comic where he cuddles Pluto is dead wrong. Disney knows that Marvel has a dedicated fan base, and presumably they know how to please a fan base (after all, they keep pleasing the masses with fantastic movies). They aren't gonna go full on retard with the Marvel comics, maybe some cross overs but nothing too painful. Besides it couldn't be any worse when they did the Punisher and Archie cross over.

Lemme get this straight. Disney acquired Marvel Comics, as in...the same Marvel that brought us DEADPOOL?!

Oh god, I can see it all now. The hills will be ALIVE with so much snark from that merc!

"Oh sure, no problem! I'll just murder everyone off-camera. That's cool, right? 'No killing'? No habla englais, senor. Wade works his magic on all god's children, great and small. You can't ask me to do away with that! Do I look like Tap-'Em-On-The-Head-And-Wait-For-Karmic-Retribution-Pool? No! The comics is Deadpool starring Deadpool BY Deadpool! And if you don't like it, then I'm shooting the comic and we can end the whole universe RIGHT NOW! Show 'im the doors, narration bubbles! I AM SO OVER THIS!"

They took Deadpool. Disney is dead to me but those covers are awesome. But I swear, if Deadpool isn't R-Rated and softened up...

THAT would be the coolest thing ever. I think Jack Kirby would agree too.

This was precisely the point I argued when news first popped up on the internet. Yes Disney has made some terrible decisions in the past (the disney channel is almost painful to watch at times and their phase of making lackluster sequels to popular films was just bad) but they would know what not to do.

A thought just occured to me as well. Disney Interactive co-owns the Kingdom Hearts franchise alongside Square Enix. Could it be possible that Disney would intergrate characters like Spider-Man, The Runaways of even Young Avengers into the games?

I gotta say, fighting Heartless Gibborims would be pretty epic.
