Every once in a while someone says that the world will end.
There is not a shred of scientific evidence to support this. There's a lot of scientific SOUNDING jargon thrown out by conspiracy theorists, but actual scientists are not worried in the least by 2012.
I can guarantee you that after 2012 passes, or maybe even a bit before then, the doom-sayers will change the date to 2020 or something like that, so they can sell more books and go on more TV shows, shouting their doom prophecies, like they always have.
Seriously, just because the Mayan calendar ends, we are supposed to freak out? What the heck did the Mayans know? They had no advanced technology or science. You are going to put so much stock and faith into what the Mayans said? Why do you think they knew what the heck they were going on about? Hell, the sun scared the daylights out them! The Sun! And they thought a solar eclipse was something special! The mayans knew NOTHING about anything.
