3D. Gimmick or the future of entertainment.

Personally I feel 3D is being pushed too fast onto the market, and that it's not ready.
Besides home 3D TVs need big ass screens to be any interesting.

Its a mere distraction on the road to VR, but it may evolve into the first step.

It's a gimmick at the moment, but true virtual reality or holograms would be awesome.

with at least 10% of the population unable to experience it, it will most likely be an optional feature. Surely gaining market space and popularity, but never completely surpassing 2-d.

Just as HD has yet to totally eclipse SD.

Just as Blueray and HDDVD has yet to eclipse DVD.

It will take some time.

I'm gonna say gimmmick, given that I have to buy a 3D monitor or TV to experience it.

3d is such ass, uncomfortable glasses for something to come towards your face? serusly why antil its actualy 3d as in it actualy surrounds you in the world rather then just shoving stuff towards ure face its just annoying. and get rid of the shitty glasses 2. or atleast project the 3d picture onto them

I remember seeing a video where researchers made 3D that you could feel on your hand, basically they set it to rain and they can feel every drop. I forget if I was blown away by it or unimpressed that that was all they could do with it.

I had expected them to try playing catch with something. Still, thinking back on it it's definitely something they should look into.

Think about every explosion, having specks of dirt fall against your skin or the rain blowing at your face. Even the heat, at a comfortable level of course... we're not trying to kill people here. Or are we? No? Aww... I guess we'll settle for comfortable heat.

Ah! Here it is.

The only positive i can think of regarding 3D tv is the fact that it lowered the price of everything else with it's release. I can now get a perfectly reasonable flat screen for less than half the price. Thankyou, 3D tv.

I've voted, don't really have anything to say that hasn't already been said, but I want to sincerely thank you for not putting in any stupid options in the poll.

Thank you so much, it seems to be the norm around here that polls must have a 'joke' answer and it completely ruins the threads integrity for me.
