I'm totally honest about the awful, campy, embarrassing, dated music I like. I blare this loudly and proudly.
I also blare Lady Gaga. And I even blare music from Glee. *horrified gasp* I know. I'm an awful human being. Idoncurr. I would whip my hair in your general direction, but that's a song that even I with my terrible taste in music cannot for the life of me tolerate.
I don't listen to music without earphones on. Mainly because this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPczc4yHRXQ] isn't normally something you want everyone to know you have on repeat.
I love that song >.> I have it on my MP3, and listen to it constantly >.>
OP: As with the quoted post, I only listen with earphones.
Because I dislike it when people blare their music out for all to suffer, I'm not about to do that to others.

Yes, I have gotten a noise complaint over this song. No, it's not what I usually listen to.
[sub]I couldn't stop laughing when the RA came to the door. She said if she could clearly hear the words to the song in her apartment, which is on the same floor but at the far end of a ~100 foot hallway, it was probably too loud. My roommate had to talk to her, because I was literally laughing too hard to speak to anyone.[/sub]
Needless to say, my downstairs neighbors hate pretty much everyone in my apartment.
As to what I listen to when I just want some music? That's usually either my MP3 player, which has everything from Ella Fitzgerald to Manowar on it, or my favorite internet radio station, Epicrockradio.com. I found the site back in 2004, and the station owner, Kailef, is probably the one person most responsible for the fact that I like metal, even to this day. When I have access to my turn table and record collection, I listen to a lot of classic rock as well.
[sub]I listen to it at a reasonable volume; I don't especially want hearing damage, and I try to keep the noise complaints to a minimum. We get more complaints over my roommate's Guitar Hero drum kit than we do my stereo, despite the fact that it can easily rattle not just the windows, but every wall and piece of furniture in the apartment.[/sub]
Edit: Just to make it clear, all of this is run through the stereo. I rarely use my mp3 player with headphones these days.
I'll get straight to the point here. I'm asking you what it is you listen to while getting shit done or just chillin with your dogs of life (ICP where did you go?). I'm not talking in private(headphones on), I'm talking the music you blare so everybody knows that you're taking care of business.
Me personaly, I need to crank some classic rock when I'm doing work or if me and the gents are bullshitting by the fire that we started. If I'm partying I need that old time "rock and/or roll" (cookies for reference).

I couldn't bare knowing people heard or knew what I was listening to... Hence I use headphones all the time. When I know I'm in a secure place all alone then I might just have a blast and turn up the volume of my stereo. But that doesn't happen very often.
The reason for that is my music taste is quite horrible. For example this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5MyZOA3MmM] is one of my favourite songs at the time. Also, this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zsha3srlxQA] and this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRwrcL4ruaY]... Don't jugde me, aight? >___<;
I have a thing about playing music out loud.
I've lived in paper houses for years, you see. Anything above a whisper is heard in every room kind of paper houses.
And with this insane insomnia I get, I tend to be awake at night a lot. So over time I have formed this complete inability to listen to anything without headphones.
I am not even sure what I would play if I could, though. Probably just whatever the fuck I felt like at the time.

I fail to see what's wrong with any of that -- assuming you actually speak whatever Nordic language that rap song was in. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with it from a technical or compositional point of view, but it's rap, so you're missing out on everything but the bass beats if you don't speak the language -- and you miss out on the bass if you use headphones. That song was meant to be played over a professional DJ's PA system. Also, the J-rock song was better than most western pop-rock, and the reggae song was catchy.
You had to put disturbed up there didn't you. Now your on list to be culled. I have a feeling every one is going to kill me for this but disturbed sucks ass and is the worst heavy metal band i have ever heard. When i'm doing anything whether it's work or home work or exercise i listen to Buckethead. Usually with my ipod but occasionally ill crank him up and let eargasms begin.

Yeah, I do speak the language (Finnish) and they're basically singing about the area where I live so I can appreciate the lyrics... Or something like that. ^^' (Also, few people appreciate rap because of the mainstream shit people are listening to so it's not easy saying "I like rap music.") And I've gotten so much shit thrown my way because I like listening to J-rock it's a touchy subject, which is why I don't like telling people about my favourite bands.
It made me especially glad, though, that you liked the reggae song. =) The Capital Beat is also a Finnish band.
Same here. I don't think the people around me would appreciate synth rock blaring in their ears all day. But I do have a song that I usually put on when I'm working/ writing: link [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmtlxCrdm9g] I call it my thinking music.

I thought that might be Finnish. Some of my favorite bands come from Finland -- particularly Stratovarius and Falconer. I wasn't aware Finland had active local communities in other genres, though. Finnish reggae almost seems like it should be an oxymoron

Hahaha! Ohh dear, I never thought of it like that. It sure seems odd to have Finnish reggae bands Probably why there aren't too many of them though (I only know two)... But always glad to hear someone likes "our" music XD
