So fellow escapists. A simple question: Do you act on feelings or on your thoughts?
For me, I kick everything I experience into a petri dish to analyze it, I don't think it's the right way to go by but just acting on a 'gut feeling' won't help either. What's your thought on it?

Thoughts.

Emotional decisions are often times far worse than logical ones. Whenever possible, I make logical decisions.

I tend to overanalyse, but sometimes you just need to go with what feels right.

If I had analysed it properly I would never have gotten up on stage for the first time, or ever after that, I would never have gotten any of my girlfriends, I would never have written a novel, or decided to become a writer, and I would probably have never gone to boarding school or a university so far away.

On the other hand had I not analysed things a little I would have failed several exams, made certain very bad decisions regarding drugs and alcohol use, and overall be in a pretty poor position in life.

Sometimes you gotta let your instincts guide you, because while analysing things might keep you safer than only your feelings, you'll miss out on a lot of things in life.

Feelings. I'll always act on emotion, and deal with the analysis of a situation later. It doesn't always turn out very well, but it's how my strange mind operates.
There is nothing strange about it. There is no wrong or right in this matter as far as I think. It's just the way we view things, that's all.

I use both.

E.g. That kitten is falling! LOGIC:It's going to die
FEELINGS:Save it!
BOTH:Where should I go to save it?

It's like head and heart. If you don't use 1 of them, you're either going to die or be a jerk.

Feelings, most definitely. Rather disadvantages for me, considering my most common feelings are fear and apathy.

I would say Logic, soley because of the reason I will state now.

Logic is perfect, its the ability to analyze the situation and make the best choice. Perfecting logic, in the chain of making a choice, if it cannot be solved any logical way, logic would then dictate that an emotional response would be best.

For example, one may use an example of logic being flawed, in that a being of pure logic is unable to make a choice to run to the left or the right (Both being equally viable options) while there is an incoming train, and getting hit and killed by the train... Its actually the inability to make an emotional choice.

What im trying to say is this- their logic was perfect, but thier emotion was flawed. They were unable to make an emotional choice.

Thoughts mostly, but if I have a really strong feeling about something then I'll act on it.
