Poll: To Cheat Or Not To Cheat

If there's truly someone you feel for more strongly, and you're not happy with your current relationship and absolutely POSITIVE its not making you happy then at least tell her the truth. You owe her that much.

Anyways I never use cheats on my first playthrough, I even try to avoid walkthroughs if possible. Even after that I only cheat if I find something particularly interesting like if it allows me to do something within the game that is not normally possible, like beating an enemy well out of your league or some such. Like those bosses who are very powerful and you're supposed to actually lose to for the plot of the game I mean. Sometimes you beat them and something neat happens. Or cheats that allow you to use characters that aren't normally useable, basically content unlocking type things are always neat.

Some cheats are perfectly alright in my opinion (such as those that give you funky colours, funny noises, uber blood/gore mode etc.).

There are also cheats that can just ruin the game (such as invincability, ghost mode, fire/1 hit kill ammo from RF2) and make it too pathetically easy.

Yes, unless you are invisible to pull pranks on the NPC's or do something interesting, not for gameplay.

My general rule is to finish a game then cheat. Cheats are certinly one way of extending interest and play time of a game.

I would cheat only if I couldn't get past something and if the game has a special thing that allows it. (Saints Row 2) for example has a cheat menu if you already used the cheat you can just go there, and the game would do it automatically for you

I find I lose interest in the game very quick if I use cheats... and it disables trophy's/achievements.

This. Although I have been tempted by some games when they take the urine in terms of either bugs, difficulty, or bad design.

For the lulz? Of course. To try something not really possible without cheating? Yes. To beat a bug in the game? Yes. Sadistically hard game design- I've done it once or twice, if I just wanted to get on with the story. But just finishing a game relying on cheats other than the above? No, there's no point.

Will I change gravity so I can bounce outside of the map and lol about it? Yeah.
Will I summon 30 skaarj warriors in a UT match just to see how people react to it? Yeah.
Will I use a spamming/flooding program to enter a GTA3 "summon tank" cheat 300 times in a second and have hundreds of tanks fall on top of eachother and crush everything in the road? Yeah, it's effing hilarious.
Will I cheat to beat Ikaruga? No. It's against the purpose and my philosophies.

A long time ago, I wouldn't even touch games without cheats, but nowadays it's a different story. I really love challenge in gameplay, and beating things "fairly" and kicking ass with skill and strategy.

If it is a single player game (or single player part of the game) and my cheating didn't affect the play of others then i would use a cheat. It it makes the game more enjoyable for me and doesn't ruin it for someone else I think it is fine. Once you start screwing with someone else is game enjoyment then i think cheating is not a good idea.

No, I'm talking about using cheating glitches in the game. (like making yourself invisible, duplicating items, God Mode, 100% reflect damage or spell, etc.)

Mostly no, unless it saves me lots of butthurt...
For example in Rome:TW and Medieval2: TW i would use the command
'toggle_fow' to reveal the whole map for me.
Other than that i 'try' not to cheat

In my opinion cheats will not increase your skills, or make you a better gamer. They are only OK if you have finished a game, and are bored out of your mind so you put on some cheats to make it a little more interesting.

This is Single Player obviously, I'm 100% against cheating/hacking online or multiplayer, people just see you as another attention-starved 7 year old who wants to fell good about himself, because he can't play the game properly.
