Poll: Too Much Ads

I don't know about you guys but I spend my majority on this site watching videos and I recently started to get annoyed by all the ads not the ones on the sides or anything I mean the ones before the videos the thirty second ones that are the exact same ad over and over again this time for me it is Rift (a game I am less willing to play the more it whores itself out) I don't know I just wanted to hear what you guys thought of them whether they annoy you too or you don't mind them. Oh, and if there is a way to stop them PLEASE TELL ME!!! And what Escapist should do to stop it too whether they should cut down on them and make some budget cuts or if they should keep the ads up or even increase the ads?

I always thought that the ads wouldn't bother me if there was a greater variety of them. Seeing the same ad over and over again gets really annoying. I think the WoW Cataclysm ad was the most annoying to me.

But yeah, you should subscribe to the Escapist if they bother you that much. That's what I did.

They were. But you can remove both of them in the options/settings page of your account, so it's all good.

I remember seeing this add-on to the Chrome browser which blocks and skips adds in YouTube automagically. Maybe something similar exists for other browsers that will work on this site? Just a thought.

Oh sorry didn't read properly. I was only talking about the video ads. As for the images ads, join the publishers club.

I think we can still reply. It's just that the only answer we can give the TC about getting rid of ads is that he should join the Publisher's Club. Any other answer is a no-no. There were other questions the TC asked too that can be discussed too; I just have nothing to say about those because I'm already ad free, so they can add 50 million ads everywhere for all I care. I still won't have to look at them.

It's nearly impossible to run a website as large as this without ad revenue, and I can hardly imagine that the publishers club pays nearly as much as the ads do. I just ignore them and understand that for as annoying as they are, it's for the best. TVTropes was recently in serious danger of having to either make drastic changes or risk going under when they temporarily lost advertising support from Google.

Personally, I'd rather just watch ads than pay money. These being the humble words of a poor college student.

Really, this is what most things on the Internet are coming down to: either muddle through the delays or pay up. It's all the result of having higher-quality content here on the Intertubes. Higher quality means money, and it's got to come from somewhere.

Honestly, I decided to not bother playing Rift when I saw their ad the first time. "You're not in Azeroth anymore." Really? I mean,I get that you're trying to get a bit of the MMO pie, but that is the best you could think of?

On topic: Ya, they will get annoying and they won't go away. Remember, if those ads didn't exist, those videos wouldn't have been made. Nothing is free after all.
