With the Vita, you'll be that cool guy who has the new tech, but has nothing to play on it for the first few months of ownership. With the 360, you'll blend in to the rest of the 360 masses, but you'll have a deep and engaging library to play right from the start. Pretty much comes down to preferences.

Personally, I'd go with the 360 + Anniversary edition of Halo, as I own one and love it. Also, I've never been a Sony fan, nor a big fan of portables.

I dont see much of a point in super powerful hand held games, furthermore not a fan of their line up/gimmicks

Go with the Xbox, much bigger selection and more useful than the PsVita.

I would go with the PS Vita because my pc covers the parts of the 360 library that interest me, I like the PSP already, and Vita will interact well with my PS3. However, if you really love Halo--really, really love it--then the 360 might be the better choice for you.

Something else to think about: Do you have consistent access to a television or other screen for a full console, or do you have to worry about inconveniencing other people? Vita is a much better "anywhere, anytime" gaming device, and its library will grow soon enough. Of course, if you wait a bit, it's tech will likely improve (battery life, etc.), and you would have the 360 in the meantime.

At least you have options. Hope you enjoy whatever you finally choose.

i am leaning to the PsVita at the moment because i do have a ps3 and because i spend most of my time traveling back and forth to school it would keep me amused. im not like in love with halo i just really like combat evolved as a whole.

Sounds like a plan to me, but like I said, PS Vita is already my preference--portable, works with a system I already have, etc. Halo is a nice franchise, but it's not really my thing, so there isn't much else to tempt me toward a 360, not even Gears of War. Keep an eye on the gaming news since you have time before both release dates. Vita should be showing itself off again at TGS, and we might get a little more info on what to expect from its launch.
