First of all making all games require an internet connection at all times is complete total and utter bullshit. I have not pirated a game since my college days and this year alone have purchased $200 worth of PC games. (Through Steam)
I travel quite a bit and play games in the airport/on airplanes/in hotel rooms sometimes I don't have internet or have internet that's pathetically slow and I don't bother with internet connections.
UBI has gone way to far trying to protect their games in a way that
A) is going to get hacked anyway
B) just pisses off legitimate customers
I will never buy an UBI game (thank God I haven't picked up Assassins Creed 2 yet) due to this total crap policy.
what's funny is UBI says

Steam already offers options 1 and 2. The third option is stupid. The fact that there is no offline play is pathetic. So what's in it for gamers?
Ubi say there are three advantages to their online services. The first: you don't need a disc. The second: that you can install the game on as many PCs as you like, as many times as you like. And the third: the automatic uploading of savegames to Ubisoft's servers.
