Firstly, I haven't made a thread on the forums for a while now, so please excuse me if I do something wrong or against the rules. OK then, on to the actual topic. Total War: Shogun 2 has been announced for a while now, in November the release date was confirmed to be 15/03/11. Slowly but steadily, more info has been given out like in December when juicy bits of Multiplayer details were given out to IGN. As you can probably tell, I'm really hyped for this game, as much as I am hyped for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood to be finally released for PC. The only bad thing I can think about it right now is that the game is really over-priced. In Australia (Where I live) four versions of the game will be released. Standard Edition priced from $95 to $99, Limited Edition from $105 to $110, Collectors Edition at $130 and the last version, named the Grandmaster Version at ... you don't wanna know. So is anyone else as excited as me for the game?
P.S. Also, I thought the name sounded cooler as Shogun 2: Total War rather then Total War: Shogun 2

Fuck me, that is expensive, I'll wait for the price to drop or for a Steam sale or something. I'll buy it sooner or later, I have faith that it will be as awesome as the first.

Where's the option for "gonna buy it once Steam marks it down to something like $20"?

It looks pretty cool, but I almost never pay full price for games. I can wait until a while after the release and play it when it's cheaper.

I wanna get it now (as in preorder), but alas, I spent my last 50$ on Assassins' Creeds 1 and 2.... Stupid history channel special on Renaissance architect.... Making me want to climb on it....

Yeah, we always get it much more expensive and sometimes very late as well. :(

The scope of modding it will allow from the get-go looks like it will not be very impressive. I will wait until modders (possibly including myself but unlikely) can take a crack at the game files and really get some good mods going.

I haven't even heard of all these different editions, but I suppose it's inevitable. Don't really care, since I already preordered what I assume to be the standard version.

I only have two real concerns about the game. From what I'm reading the historical battles will be lots of fun, since the AI has been heavily scripted for those. However, once I have played through the historical battles a couple of times, I'll lose my interest in them precisely because they are heavily scripted. The actual single player campaign experience, where the AI can't be heavily scripted for obvious reasons, is of a little more concern to me. Hopefully the AI will be on par with it, but only time will tell. It's probably going to be like Civ V: loads of bugs and AI problems, which will be crushed and improved for the most part within the first half a year after release. After that the game should be pretty smooth sailing.

Speaking of sailing brings me to my second concern. Water based combat seems to have exactly two units: archers boats and melee boats. The first run away and shoot, the second run after and try to board. Doesn't sound terribly exciting.
