Poll: Transformers: War for Cybertron

Anybody else excited for this game? Looks like it actually might be the best Transformers game to ever come out(Last few were not much competition) The list of playable characters were released recently and they are Bumblebee, Ironhide, Megatron, STARSCREM , Optimus Prime, Omega Surpreme, Soundwave, Thundercracker, and Ratchet.

Was it me, or did it look like the planet itself was transforming to fit the needs of the other Transformers? I wonder if that's a real feature of the game and how that mechanic would work.

Not really. These are pretty much all new designs, and not even much like the previous ones.

Optimus Prime in this looks like Animated!Sentinel Prime, what with being a six wheeled SUV whatsit. (And that's not a good thing, because Sentinel's a jerk).

Am I the only one who knows the source material on this? This game is based on Dreamwave's series "Transformers: War Within". It is considered canon, pre-G1, and is set during the civil war on Cybertron. (In the first issue Orion Pax is given the matrix of leadership, making him Optimus Prime, which is handy since Megatron just ripped the last Autobot leader, Sentinel Prime, to shreds.)
Anyone who has not read those comics, go get them or get some scans, and read them. This is the most awesome bit of Transformers fluff in existence. It's grim, dark, brutal and - wait for it - it has no humans at all! If this game turns out as good as its source material we're in for a real treat, guys and gals.

Not really, I'm cynical about the whole franchise now.

Well, your cynicism is understandable. Still, I urge you to read the comics this game's based on, and you'll see there may yet be hope.

I'd like to retract my 'no' vote and replace it with a potentially.

The films made me lose all hope in Transformers ever being returned to glory, but this seems to be more exciting. Not completely won over yet, but I'll wait and see.

Well, as we have not seen any gameplay, I'm not making any judgements yet.

However, if the game is half as badass as the trailer, that's a whole lot of badass.

The final battle in it is awesome, as the writers killed off all the needless secondary toy line characters... must've been satisfying for them, though it was pretty traumatic for me as a kid reading it... hehe
