My experience with tribute bands has been mixed as of late.
On the one hand, there are some tribute bands out there that are simply amazing. Baltimore recently hosted a Pink Floyd Experience concert which some friends and I attended. The band that played, Several Species, not only played the best Floyd songs imaginable, but they did it in a tasteful manner.
In the music community, Several Species stands as a symbol of hope for all tribute bands, and act as the resounding "YES" to the question, "are tribute bands worth defending?"

On the other hand, there are some tribute bands out there...some that should never see the light of day...like this crap...
Just looking at it makes me cringe. And if you think that's band, I once saw a Taiwanese tribute band...a tribute band to NIRVANA! Possibly one of the worst musical experiences i ever sat through; I can't quite remember the band's name, but I bet it loosely translates into something like The Shotguns to the Heads or The "We Have Nothing Better to Do"s!

That said, let me pose my question. What do you think of tribute bands?
Do you like them? hate them?
Please explain why, and feel free to share any of your experiences with tribute bands
