I won't be able to see it until it's released on DVD, but the trailers look pretty awesome.

Being a fan of the original, and knowing how they would do something like this nowadays, i had low expectations.

Turned out, my expectations were still too high.

This is the biggest piece of shit i've seen in.... like.... i think it's in my all-time worst-top5.

This movie is a hightech barbie doll - the original at least had a certain "style/atmosphere".... this one is just throwing cheesy and ANNOYING fx into your face for the sake of it. It's like i'd write this entire post in ALLCAPS - no dynamics, no subtlety, just screaming white noise.

OUCH, yes i felt there was a bit of a "pander" to the 80's through specific quotes (including the one that had NOTHING to do with TRON), but at the same time there was almost a religion there, things that had originally started out as "dude, remember when you would see us and say "Greetings Programs" has now, over the course of 1000 years.... cycles, turned into a religious means of communication. Much like when a priest says "peace be with you" and everyone says "and also with you"

I will also point out that they didn't go for the popular reboot aka The gigantic middle finger to the already established cannon and group of fans that has kept it in the lime light for close to thirty years.

And lastly, the original move was a slow high tech barbie doll of its time filled with their cheesy special effects of the day and age, so in a way, it was a honest remake, and 30 years from now when the third movie comes out, its special effects will be looked upon by the generation that was born this year (seriously, Tron and i have the same birthday) with the same "good old days" nostalgia that we do with tron, making the same complaints of the current movie they are watching. These just happen to be the same complaints that we make about this one and those same complaints were made about the first one when it hit theaters.

My top five worst films start with Jaw breaker and after that, all slots are take up by anything Uwe Boll has made

Pretty damn obvious plot twists, but an entertaining film none-the-less. Also I really want one of those trenchcoats now.

I'll be waiting for the DVD release as well.

Then to witness the acting wizardry of the great Jeff Bridges and the charmingly gorgeous Olivia Wilde.

To be honest, I thought this was about the game. I haven't heard basically anything about this film, until this day. I prefer to know as little as possible about a film[footnote]Even the backside texts of a video can do some serious spoiler damage.[/footnote] I'm going to watch, so it's only a good thing.

I take it your nostalgia goggles fit pretty well, eh?

I thought it was good fun, a nice sequel to a movie that came out 30 years ago. It had to be somewhat similar to bring in those who never saw the movie, but there was some depth to it. It didn't reboot the continuity as seems to be the custom in Hollywood, but continued the story. Bridges proves he can act the hell out of any role, and the effects are very, very, very pretty. Now, I'm definitely a huge Tron fan, so I'm more than a little biased, but I thought it was thoroughly enjoyable.

i loved it
i honestly do not see what everyone said was so bad about it i thought it was amazing!
the acting...worked it wasnt really remarkable though aside from jeff bridges, the action was great, the special effects were great, people say the story didnt work but i never really saw a problem
(except right at the end since it was the only part of the movie that confused me)

EDIT: i did see the original BEFORE this one
