Poll: Twitter anyone?

I was wondering what everyone around here thought of Twitter.

I can't stand it myself. It's like posting your life online for ADD stalkers. They want to know what you're up to, but you can only hold their attention if you can explain it in 140 characters.

I've heard of Twitter, but.. I don't really get what it is meant to be, exactly. I (reluctantly) just got a Facebook account, but I actually like it since I can harass my cousins from my side of the city.

But Twitter? I'll pass.

I like how some sports casters use it to give away free tickets and such. But otherwise its a big odd. (unless its one of Russ Pitts stories)

I use one because I'm an active musician and I like to let anyone who could be loosely deemed a fan keep track of what stuff I'm up to ("Show Friday Night in Dothan" and "In the Studio with Next To Last, stuff like that). I figure if I get in the habit of keeping up with it now then I won't forget about it when I get a little more popular and actually have people who care what I'm up to.

I use one because I like posting random funny things. Don't expect anyone but my friends to really care and I usually block people I don't know because I think it's kind of weird to follow random people. Plus I THOUGHT I could use it to follow band/show updates but it turns out most of them are as random as I am.

It seems like a little too much for me. I really couldn't care less what most people are up to every ten minutes, especially average Twitter'ers. It could work for famous people and musicians though; kind of like the hollowed-out shell that is Myspace has become a pretty useful place to find music.

Another reason why I wouldn't want a Twitter: I'd be too wary of stuff like this happening:

When important people use it, I have no problem. The shit they say is often important, and I find it to be useful with people like Major Nelson.

Then there are the people that fail to realize that no one gives a shit about where you ate, or what you just bought. If I ever got a twitter, the only real stuff I would ever tweet would be that, and I would find myself giving in to the douchebaggery.

If you follow twitter for bands/people you don't actually know, that's fine.
If you use it to follow your real life friends, then what exactly do you talk about when you get together with them? That's my problem with it. Takes the point out of talking with people. I also dislike SMS, but that's another story.

I can't really understand these ... things. I do use MSN a lot but that's about it. I was forced to make a FaceBook account but I never use it because it was only for my brother (I joined his mafia so he could play more Mafia Wars... -_-) I just cannot be bothered to tell people what I am doing and if you want to contact me - friggin' send me an email! It's far more likely to catch me with an email than posting to my Myspace.

I really like Twitter. Although the people I know who use it tend to use it for conversations. Which can be funny if you only see one side of the story.
