Poll: Twitter: Yay or Nay?

I just got done tweeting about an awesome twit I just found, and I started to wonder what the folks here at the Escapist thought about Twitter. There's a Twitter section in the profiles on the Escapist, so someone here must like it. So, how do you feel about Twitter.

I like twitter, it's a nice way of telling people what you're up to, even if, like me, what you're up to most of the time consists of little more than breathing air, blinking etc.

Seriously, I don't think anyone actually goes THAT in-depth as to their daily activity. I mean, I know I don't. Anyone who would, though really needs to get their priorities in order. That's just kinda gross.

People who complain about Twitter always complain about a specific use of Twitter - usually it's using it to blog about every tiny aspect of your life. If that's all you can find on Twitter, you're reading the wrong people's accounts. It's like saying text messaging is bad because you have one friend who keeps sending you knock-knock jokes. Get new friends! There are all kinds of uses for it and most of them are good.

That's why I voted "Yay" instead of "Oh sweet Jesus, YAY!!!": it's just a platform. The actual content determines whether it's any good, and that depends on who you read.

I have one and I check other tweets often enough but when it comes to saying what I'm up to.... eh. I don't have anything that worth saying nine times out of ten, but the problem is that that doesn't stop a lot of people.

Well, if I was a rock star with an army of stalkers ready to break through my windows, it might be useful as a pacifier. Other than that, I feel that facebook is enough socialization for me.

Never used it. I don't particularly hate it like some other similar popular things (if Facebook was a person I would kill it slowly), I just feel it's unnecessary. For me atleast. Fine if other people use it.

I have never had a Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, AIM or anything. Everybody knowing what I'm doing all the time just doesn't appeal to me.

I don't really see the appeal of Twitter. The fact that it's getting so popular seems a step in the wrong direction for society, though. Instant gratification taken to the next level, that's what it is.
