Whom would win? Opposite sides of the same coin.

The Tyranids a race of biological monsters that's only goal it to move from planet to planet assimilating all biological matter possible before moving onto the next one. Creatures that for every one you kill 10 more takes its place.

The Necron an ancient army of Mechanical creatures stripped of emotion and curse to be the slaves of the C'tan deities with no other interest than the destruction of life. Living machines that won?t stay down no matter how many times you break them.

Whom would win?

Inspired by this rather one sided argument: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.279248-Spartan-Vs-Astartes?page=1

Well, in all technicality the Tyranids seem to be able to tell what planets are Necron tomb worlds and steer clear of them so such a fight should never happen.

I honestly prefer Necrons more.

Necrons don't want to kill all life, they want to take the souls of the living for their c'tan masters... since tyranids are mindless creatures with no souls and necrons have no bio matter they have no reason to fight.

Well it will one day, the Tyranids will devour everything eventually and be left with the Necrons a "civilisation" that has nothing of value, nothing organic. So it would be all out war.

It would be one hell of a fight for sure, I can't say I can declare a winner though.

Actually... one of the theories about the Tyranids is that they are able to travel between universes (read this in a book somewhere, can't remember which one) so after they've devoured all the organic matter of one universe they'd leave for another.

Except the Necrons can't really be permanently destroyed. So either the Tyranids would breed endlessly until the Necrons overcome them, or the battle just doesn't happen.

A Hermit's Cave
Uh, let's see:

Tyranid smacks down a Necron, jumps up and down with glee...
Along comes Lord with an Orb of Resurrection...
He looks around and activates orb...

Nuff sed.

As far as tabletop is concerned though, Necrons currently suck. Tyranids are better, and by quite a margin. Modelling wise, there's a lot more you can do with 'Nids as well, as Necrons are just plain up boring. Go figure... My service is to the Laughing God: would you fuck a Solitaire?

Nids eat everything, but necrons aren't alive, so id have to say that necrons would win in the end and they have that annoying tendency to put themselves back together

Biological creatures can reproduce to increase their numbers without relying on large deposits of metal, mining, smelting, etc. Machines cant.

Tyranids reproduce by devouring planets... only a limited number of these

Well of course Necrons would win... living metal(regenarating metal) robots who can reassemble themselves. Also i can't remember where i read it but it said that the current Necrons are just "harvesters" not the military force.
Also they'd win because they are more awesome.

The only necrons (that I am aware of) with any bio matter on them is the flayed ones and even that is just draped over them.

So I have no idea why a bunch of meat eaters would attack a metal race, so I would assume the nids would just avoid necron worlds.

On topic. Necrons are kewl and and have a big old pyramid that wreaks havok!
