<url=http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5414012&categoryid=2378529>This clip was put on the homepage of ESPN today - a fantastic layout score by Andrew Flemming. Looking at some of the comments though, a few people who have not been exposed to Ultimate are disputing wether it deserves to be called a sport at all.

What do you think, Escapists? Is it a real sport, albeit a commercially unpopular one, or do you snicker at the idea of people playing a game that involves running after a plastic disc?

I love ultimate, I have been playing for a couple year now. It requires no skill to play in that anyone can pick up a disk and play, but in order to be good is incredibly hard. I would love to see more videos like this get more publicity for the sport.

Its a real sport, played it in gym class earlier this year, so many people liked it i was able to get a game going outside of school =D. Its fun, it can be very tiring, and just about anyone can learn to do it so.

I played this at school, FRICKIN AMAZING, all though we were in a hall and I lept to catch it and fell onto the wall and seriously hurt my back. So I called Injurylawyers4frisbeeplayers.

I'm only too happy to call it a sport - I play it at university and am getting involved with the committee for next year. It's so much fun nad generally seems to attract alot of good humoured people.

It's more of a sport (more athletic, for sure) than golf, or poker, or NASCAR, and all of those are covered by ESPN regularly.

So yes, yes it is a sport and worthy of attention.
