Well I would say so, as there is now a PS 3, not as retro as "Space Invaders", ok, but there aren't really any characters that you can pick out for a showdown from that age of gaming.

They are retro, at least, the early ones are. The new stuff doesn't count because PS2 onwards, Spyro and Crash were crap. However, they're my favourite PS1 games to the point I was really pissed off when I found my old disc for Crash 3 was scratched when I was home for Easter...

Crash wins. I never got through a Spyro game, but I could play Crash games for days on end.

Spyro. I have fonder memories of his games, plus I just liked them more.
More interesting environments and enemies.

I just recently played Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage and Crash Bandicoot 3 on a PS1 emulator, and I played Spyro 2 for many, many hours, but I didn't even finish Crash Bandicoot's "Chinese Wall" level.

I had thought about that, but I don't think that the phrase "retro" could ever be used to describe the likes of Crash or Spyro.

Retro was before main characters. That is my opinion, anyway.
