I don't see the problem... At school i had to wear a goddamn blazer, it was like wearing a suit every single goddamn day for 5 years!!!
...and i loved it! Lol strangely enough i think suits are awesome so it didn't bother me.
Your school doesn't seem particularly strict, my mate had a similar dress code as yours, but for college, he left after a week and came to my college with a shedload of brown clothes.

Agreed, when I was in middle school (oh goodness, that was a decade ago...) my school dress code was far more strict. It is what it is. The school votes for it and I believe parents get the opportunity to vote as well (all of my schools have had a dress code and the parents get a vote), though it is likely that few actually do go out to vote on school matters.THEAFRONINJA said:

Yes, while I agree that its sad that school is molding our kids to becoming more puppets of consumerism and capitalism and societies standards, I also believe it's a necessary evil.
I love how so many posters here are appalled at this concept, as if no one ever has to wear a uniform or adhere to a somewhat strict dress code for a job. Unless your self-employed, work as some kind of entertainer, or have a job like a tattoo artist or musician, you're going to have to wear some kind of uniform to make a living. Get used to it.
I'm all about self-expression, but I realize that clothes are just an image, if I'm denied my own choice when it comes to them, then I'll find other avenues of expression, I have to have something. Hell, being in the army I'm very limited when it comes to that, but I went out and got the one pair of boots I've never seen anyone wearing, just to have something to call my own. If you absolutely must have your own thing going on, there are ways.
All in all, I guess I'm for school dress codes and uniforms. Sure they have no impact on your learning but thats no the point, school molds you for society, and not just in an academic way. The faster kids realize that they will have no control over some things in life, the faster they will mature to not give a shit and move on.

uniforms in school is a stupid idea. clothes define our style and our personality. i would have quit school if they implemented them

It's a PUBLIC school, he can't just "go" somewhere else, that would mean either moving to a new town or paying outrageous sums for a private school, it's absolutely ridiculous that taxpayer money is being used to force something so idiotic on people who may not be wealthy enough to afford a sane alternative.Grilled Cheesus said:

That's most certainly not true, I'm definitely not going to be wearing either (ok, let me revise that to "90% chance" I won't be wearing either depending on the company) When I eventually am hired as a game programmer.
My school never had uniforms, the dress code consisted of:El Poncho said:
1.) Don't wear anything advertising drugs or alcohol
2.) Don't be fucking naked.
That was about it.
And guess what? THE WORLD IS STILL SPINNING.
Seriously, dress codes are ridiculous.
